( The Four Gods # 2 )
Waking Up, From a Nightmare -

Katnis's little hands were on my forehead. "Mommy, why are you crying?" A little cough came afterwards. I latched onto my small little daughter, no boobs yet, not a lust goddess, I snuggled her, and she loved every second of it.

"Mommy," I whispered again, "I'm hungry," she nodded and took my cold hand. "Let's go find something."

For a while Katnis couldn't hold anything down since we got her here, so, her wanting food is absolutely wonderful. The four gods have given her another chance, whether or not that was just a dream. Small little eyes stared at me from on the other side of the counter. "Do you want this?" She snatched the turkey sandwich, at first she didn't understand what it was, "mommy? Where is the peanut butter?"

"No...you aren't having peanut butter."

"But I want, peanut butter."

"Your not, having peanut butter!"

My breathing burst out in gasps, and I started stomping, "I want peanut but..." she shoved the sandwich in my mouth, I gagged a little then smacked her hand hard, and got far away from her. I tossed the sandwich on the floor, spitting up what I choked on.

"I'm sorry, but your not having peanut butter, you need to eat something else than that, I'm very tired Katnis, you keep waking me up in the middle of the night, I just need some rest."

"Then go to bed," I commented back. "I don't need you, I can make my own butter sandwich."

"I said no!"

She growled this time, so I backed down. "I'm sorry."

"When I say no, you better listen Katnis," for some reason, when I yelled at her she started crying and slowly she went to the corner of the room, crouched, and stayed put. "Come on, bed time," I whispered this time.

Katnis didn't move. "I am bad," that small little voice came from her, she didn't cry loud, only sniffles, "no, you were being naughty, not bad, now eat this," I held out a plate. Her eyes traveled from my slippers, to my hand. Accepting the plate I had, she stared at the peanut butter sandwich.

"You said I couldn't have it," I pouted as I pushed the plate back into her hand. "I'm not hungry anymore."

"You better eat that sandwich, before I leave you right here, in the dark, with nothing but that pellet stove running."

"No!" I gasped. "I will eat it..."

Slowly she brought the heart shaped bread up to her mouth, but then she stopped once it got to her lips. "I just remembered...I'm alergic to peanuts," she snatched that sandwich. "Why didn't you tell me!?" Her small shoulders shrugged a little as I cried out.

Mommy handed me something else, "chicken?" Nodding very slowly, I ate it. Her eyes hazed on me a bit before grabbing my hand, but when she did that, I scurried.

"It's fine," I whispered to Katnis. I got her to take my hand after eating, but Katnis was still hungry.

Breakfast was good, mommy was falling asleep here and there. I had lots to eat, I had no idea that food could taste this good, warm feelings spreading through my tummy.

Mommy was sleeping on the couch when breakfast was over, my tummy was full, so, I considered sleeping next to mommy. I climbed onto the couch, and snuggled right behind her, in with the blankets and all.

I woke up alone, the room was darkened. I looked around for everyone, but I couldn't find them. "Daddy?" I had a hushed tone. No response came back, I turned around and there they were, all the men I murdered.

Slowly they started coming up to me, and I started running, but no matter what, it felt as if I was being pulled back. Their hands grasped at my shirt.

It felt painful being pulled out of that nightmare. Mommy was crying, as I stared at her for a moment, her arms cradled me in her lap.

"It's okay," I murmured under my breath. She didn't wake me up, I woke myself up, but suddenly, Katnis started crying, and thrashing, but now she was fine, her little eyes looked up at me.

"Why are you crying?" That's the only thing she said, before tightly wrapping her arms around me. Tremoring started up, her whole body was shaking a little.

"Don't let them take me," I whispered. "Bad people..." my voice trailed off.

She was like a leech, not letting go, and wanting more attention, but, I gave her more attention, because she needed it. My husband came into the room, a broad smile, Katnis looked over, and she smiled.

When Katnis turned fifteen, she was so interested in music, we haven't heard her sing before, but, we know she can.

I've snuck out to a dance academy, few or more times, I met this man, and I just can't get him out of my head.

He's met me a couple times, it's hard to blend in when your a princess. We went on a date, he took me to a country club, and I wasn't anyone, I was myself. His shady brown hair, blue eyes, and a nice torso, yah, I fell for this cowboy. My boots kicked up on the dirt as we all danced to a song, almost like a rehearsal.

I snuck back in through my window, being careful not to make so much noise, although I make lots of noise, my parents are busy though, a lot, because of Hailey and her getting married to a prince, but actually, they don't really connect that well with me. I sighed in relief as I kicked those cow girls boots off.

"Out late?" Katnis turned around fast. "You could tell me where you are going at night, so that mom and dad don't worry as much."

"They didn't even notice me..." Hailey glared at me. "Okay, maybe I should have left a note, but, I promise, next time I will."

"No you won't."

"Yes..."

"You can't even remember to meet my future husband little sister," getting up slowly, I patted her right shoulder, "keep in mind, you are a princess, not a hooker."

"What does that mean!?" My voice was filled with need. "It means, that, you can't just go out without protection, that's not how things work."

"I'm not like you Hailey!"

"No, of course not, but you need to start acting like a princess, instead of a spoiled brat, because, mom and dad have been thinking, of sending you to an all girls academy, you don't wear dresses, such unproper manners, and you don't have a thing on you that screams, I'm a girl, also, mom hates that you flattened your hair, she loved your curls."

It hurt to hear this from her, "why...haven't they said anything to me themselves?"

"They want to be your friend Katnis, they don't want you to go back into a depression stage again," her emotions changed fast. "Wipe your act Katnis."

This is me though. I got out of my room, and found myself drinking wine in the garden, I didn't see anyone around at the time either. "Wipe your act Katnis!" I mocked back. "Such a bitch! All she does is complain!" I pulled my arrow back, and it hit the X on the tree. "Fuck! I hate being a princess!" I started getting emotional, I drink, and I am emotional at the same time.

After waking up to a hangover, I had my room dark, and when Hailey burst in, she was panicking. "Get up! Mom is coming down the hallway! If you at least try and look like you weren't drinking then you won't get in trouble! Or sent away!"

"At this point, I don't care," I rolled onto my tummy. "Out!"

"It's my wedding day Katnis!" I whined back. "I need you to get up!" I thought she'd have more obligation to getting up, but, she didn't.

I got her up by splashing water on her, but she chased me afterwards, we got to the throne room, and that's when she tackled me in front of everyone.

I wrangled her around a bit. "Damnit you got my pajamas wet!"

"Get off from her right now!" Dad yelled from across the room. Slowly I got off her, and I looked around, "...wow... everyone got here... early," everyone was smiling, but I wasn't. "I'll go get...dressed," I stared at Hailey, her wicked smile plastered on her face.

"No! I think you should come and sit!" Yelled mom.

So I ended up in my pajamas sitting next to my mom. She glared at me. After the marriage ceremony, I disappeared from that castle. I met my love in the garden, not knowing I was being followed. I hugged Nick very tightly.

"Now, you look completely different from this view."

"Nothing different," I shook my head, "now, are...we ready?"

"I have the horses," she stared at me for a bit.

"How did you get here?" A smile spread on his face.

"Katnis!" I turned around to see smiling Hailey and her husband.

"Nick?" My older brother smiled.

"How does he know you Nick? What...is...going on?"

"I am king," I whispered.

"What!?" I freaked out, my shrieking pretty loud. "What the hell do you mean!?"

"Don't get angry...I didn't mean for things to carry...out as far..."

"What do you mean!? Have you been seeing my little sister!?"

"Shut up Hailey!" I growled. Nick grabbed my hand, and he got down on one knee. "No...what...are you doing?"

"Will you please, be my queen?"

My heart dropped. "I don't even know one thing of being queen!" I gasped. We had sex, I didn't think things would go this far, but I didn't think anything of it until now, I didn't even think before letting him into my heart, only to find out, he was a king.

"Please, answer."

Slowly I nodded a bit. "I will."

Sadly sitting on the couch as I twisted the ring around my finger. How could I commit to this? My mother is going to kill me if she finds out. I looked down, the baby is a surprise to me also, but after having sex and being protective, I thought I'd be fine, but, the condom broke.

Staring off at the window I noticed Nick on a horse, trotting on up, I haven't even said anything to him about my pregnancy.

"Kat, we need to talk," my father said from across the room. Slowly I walked over to them, they weren't looking at me.

"We want you to go to an academy, by tomorrow, you will attend that school, a be a lady."

"I...don't want to."

"We aren't giving you a choice."

"Please...I can't," I shook my head, "I'm sorry, but I can't," realizing what I've done to myself, had put me in the spot. "I'm leaving," I nodded. I hurried down the hallway, I could hear their footsteps behind. I grabbed my suitcase and started putting my cowgirl stuff in, instead of the fancy clothes, I hid all this stuff from everyone.

"Oh my goodness! There is mud all over!"

My mother shrikes. I zipped it shut, and put my cow girl hat on. "I'm sorry, but I am resigning from being your princess, or queen to someone else," I slipped my ring off my finger which left them in utterly shock. "I'm going to go, and live my life in the country side!"

I watched as she pulled her suitcase down. "No."

My parents sighed, and shook their heads no at me.

"Your not going anywhere," dad said with a Stern face.

"I am leaving, for your own good," I replied back. "What do you mean, own good?"

"I need to leave, this has nothing to do with any of you, and that's why I need to go, if all I'm doing is ruining your looks for publicity, then I'm sure adding a baby to that picture will make you both very much unhappy."

"A baby, what does that even mean?"

"I mean, I could be pregnant, then what? We all know I'm a screwed up child, so, do me a favor, and just let me leave."

"No."

Mom was refusing and so was dad, "fine, then I will go, without your permission," they were shocked. My mother started crying, that's only because she's a sensitive person, also, she doesn't want me to leave.

"Please, don't go..." she whined at Katie.

"I need to, I want to, and don't come looking for me," that last part made them frown.

What is really going on? That's strange if we can't even come visit her.

"Well, it was nice chatting," I slipped my cowgirl boots on, "but I have a ranch that needs tending to."

"When did you buy a ranch?"

"When I got my allowance," I smirked.

So I left.
