First Person POV
I thought the soldiers had left, that maybe, just maybe, they had given up. But, the stillness seems more oppressive .
I take a deep breath,my chest heaving as I press my back against the rough bark of a tree.
suddenly,
I hear them again—the soldiers.
Their shouts pierce through the fog of my despair, each voice laced with anger.
They know I’m here. They have found me. I was foolish to believe THE SILENCE MEANT SAFETY.
She is definitely here ! one of them barks.
I press myself further into the tree, but my heart is betraying me, pounding so loudly it might as well...
