What's up Doc?
A newspaper article headed: 'Cartoon Violence makes Children more Aggressive' took me back to my schooldays. My mates Jerry, Tom and I were getting our teeth stuck into rehearsing for the school musical Bugsy Malone ... literally in Jerry's case, as I remember his front teeth protruded somewhat. He naturally took exception to being called Goofy by Mickey, the school bully.
Although this made us grumpy, even collectively we didn't fancy standing up to this tyrant. Mickey's behaviour led Jerry to become bashful and badly drawn; he went to see the doc to ask what was up with him.
Dr Sylvester dispensed with the cat scan because he could see straight away that Jerry was suffering from Disney Spells and suggested he take up some form of physical exercise to build up his confidence. Jerry promptly became a road runner, and I saw less of him from then on.
Over the years I lost touch with Tom and Jerry, but I've often wondered if the advice Jerry received helped him in his dilemma of deciding whether he was a man or a mouse.
That' All Folks!
