chapter one.

The bell ringer Ayo had rang the bell for closing. As usual you could hear the sound of students screaming and running home.

It's was my last paper of my waec examinations but my mind was at home thinking about how mama would send me to go get fire wood from the farm.

I was through anyway with my maths paper.
I was just like and over ripe plaintain waiting for the wind to blow me to the floor since everyone refuse to calm me.

The moment the invigilator said submit, while other students tried hurrying up their works, I had already submitted.

My eyes sreached the crowd of students laughing, hugging, and playing.
After all it was the last day of exams, but I couldn't find them.

I decided to go wait for them at our usual spot but I heard my name.
" tari!!". a familiar voice called me but I snubbed.
" tari!!". this time the voice came with a grib on my wrist.

I rolled my eyes before turning to him.
" Mr Ben, good afternoon sir.
" I was calling you but you snubbed".
" am sorry sir but I am just exhausted".
" I understand, hope you wrote well".
" yes sir".
" which you all the best". he tapped my shoulder before walking away.

I walked to the middle of the school compound.
I took my sit.
In the middle of the school compound is a tree with a bench for relaxing, that was me and my friends spot for waiting for each other after school.

I was so engrosed in my thought I didn't realize when Tamara and Ebiere walked to me.
" Mrs Ben, Mrs Ben!!".
Tamara hailed me as she and Ebiere takes their sit next to me.
" how was your paper?". Ebiere asked.
" mine was fine". I said.
" o boy I Banga". Tamara added.
" haaa, Tamara with all your expo you till failed.
" heaven help does who help themselves". Ebiere said.
" give me five". Tamara winked at as they did hi five.
" you they form christain make we see your result". Tamara sighed rolling her eyes at me.

we sat in silent when a girl walked up to us Breaking the silent.
" who among you is tari?".
" I am". I said.
" Mr Ben say's meet him in the library". she said before taking her live.

" Mrs Ben, Mrs Ben". Tamara and Ebiere hailed me.
" Am coming jor". I said as I walked away.

I walked into the library.
It looked like know one was in, I scanned through the room before sighting him in front of a shelf.
" tari your here". he droped the book he was helding on top of one of the reading table before walking to me.
" tari, i would be living for the city very soon". he paused for sometime like he was thinking of what to say.
" tari I love you".
" that not a new thing sir". I tried acting like this words had no effect on me.

men it did.

" your mom called me that you don't want to continue your studies but reasons are best known to you.
tari am supposed to live today but I wanted to stay for your graduation_".

" is this all what you have called me to say".

" tari". he dipped his hands into his pocket bring out a diamond ring in a red small pox.
I stared at him in shock as he goes to his kneels.
" marry me tari".

I gasped before pulling myself together.
As much as i wanted to say yes I couldn't.
" no". I frowned hitting the ring to the floor.

I watched as his gaze shifted from the ring on the floor and back to me.
he stood up staring at me in shock .

I had to live or any moment from now the tears I tried to hold would fall.
I adtempted walking away when he held my wrist engulfing me into his hug.

" I love you tari, please be mine".
he said slowly petting my hair.

for some seconds I got lost in his hug.
I wanted him badly.
he had been my only crush.

" go way!!".I pushed him away after getting a hold of myself.
" I hate you, I want to answer my calling of God and marriage is the last thing in my list!!".

he tried claim me down but I returned it with a hot slap on his face.
he stared at me in shock not knowing what to say.
" stay away from me Mr Ben!!".
I yelled before walking away.

I hear him calling me from behind but I snubbed.
I really wanted him badly but I just couldn't.
The tears I had covered and stopped from falling started falling as I made my way back to my best friend.

" wetin happen". Tamara asked surprised that I was crying
" nothing". I tried to snub

Ebiere rubbed my back gently trying to console me but I till kept crying.
" girl wetin happen na, him fall your hand". Tamara asked again.
" no, he proposed but I turned him down".
" haaaa, na you come they cry". Tamara hissed.
" it ok, let just go home ok". Ebiere said giving me a hug , cleaning the tears from my face .

Tamara gave me the 'hope say you go tell me wetin happen looks' but I snubed.

I loved Ben alot and the thought of him living was killing me.
