Criminal Love (Part One)
(⚠️ Swearing warning! But I tried to remove words that are inappropriate for people. ⚠️)
The sirens awakened the entire neighbourhood. A black car speeded over the highway of Seoul. Even though it was around midnight, the headlights of the car weren’t lit. Behind the car, a bunch of police cars were chasing the black car.
The woman in the car wasn’t afraid. She had handled things like this before.
Her hands were covered in gloves. She wore black and her hair was black too. There was a large bag in the backseat, but it wasn’t large enough to cover the painting in it.
The woman was 27 years old and she was very beautiful. When she saw the police cars in her car mirror, she smiled. ‘They think they can catch me?’ she muttered.
She hit the brake pedal and turned the car around. When she turned it 180 degrees, she drove away. She was on the other side of the road now.
The cops wasted time turning the cars around before they could continue chasing the woman.
The woman smiled again. But then she saw a helicopter flying above her. It dropped something on the highway… It was oil!
The car skidded and bumped into the pillar of an overpass. The crash was terrible.
Fortunately, the car had excellent airbags. But when the car hit the pillar, everything in the woman’s head turned black for a second. When the world became colorful again, she felt she was dizzy. She groaned and looked at the bag in the backseat. Fortunately, the painting wasn’t damaged.
When the dizziness disappeared slowly, she heard the sirens again. The cops had catched her. She knew it wouldn’t help anything if she would stay in the car.
When she came out, the cops had surrounded her. Their supervisor walked slowly towards her. He was a young man and actually very hot. ‘Well, well…’ he said. ‘Chai Soo Yoon. The most notorious art thief in this century.’
Chai Soo Yoon didn’t resist when he grabbed her hand. ‘The chief will be very grateful to me when I tell him I arrested Chai Soo Yoon.’
‘Do you really think you can just arrest me, Min Yue Yeon?’ Soo Yoon said. ‘Do you really think that?’
The police officer, Min Yue Yeon, laughed. ‘Of course I think. We surrounded you.’
Soo Yoon started to laugh. She pushed a button on her coat and her clothes transformed into a hangglider.
Yue Yeon was stunned. Then he said: ‘We have a helicopter. We can still chase you. And, we won’t let you ascend.’ He grabbed her hands and put cuffs around them.
‘Maybe you won’t let me ascend,’ Soo Yoon said, ‘but I don’t need your consent, boy.’
She couldn’t fight with her hands because of the cuffs, but she still had her feet. She kicked Yue Yeon very hard and hit his head. He fell down and let go of her hands. The other cops surrounded her again, but Soo Yoon kicked them all until she found the one with the key of the cuffs. She unlocked them with her teeth and punched the cop extremely hard. Then she climbed on the car and flew away.
Yue Yeon still lay on the ground with his eyes closed. One of the cops said hesitantly: ‘Er… mister Yue Yeon?’
Yue Yeon groaned and opened his eyes. He realized he still lay on the highway and above him, he saw Soo Yoon flying away. He must’ve been unconscious for a few seconds.
‘Mister, are you okay?’
‘Of course I’m okay! Stay away from me!’
Yue Yeon knew it wasn’t fair to be so rude, but he was very angry. He almost arrested Chai Soo Yoon… almost…
The bag with the painting in it was still in the car. Yue Yeon stood up and said to one of the cops: ‘Go get that bag. And don’t say anything about this to the chief. We just found the bag, okay? We didn’t see Chai Soo Yoon. We are still trying to find her.’
The cop said: ‘But mister Yue Yeon, she just…’
‘I said, we didn’t see her!’ Yue Yeon slapped the cop in his face. ‘Listen to me!’
The cop nodded. ‘Er… okay, mister.’
Yue Yeon looked at the sky with an angry face. ‘One day, I will arrest you, Chai Soo Yoon,’ he muttered. ‘You won’t escape next time.’
‘Aww, goddammit!’
Chai Soo Yoon’s hideout was in the mountains. Nobody would find her there. But when she arrived there, she realized that she forgot the painting.
She went into the house, swearing and cursing all the good and the bad things. That annoying Yue Yeon…
And that wasn’t the most terrible thing that happened. She lost her car. She needed a car and she couldn’t buy a new one. Everyone knew who she was.
Soo Yoon sighed and sat down on the couch. Being a criminal was great, but tough. Maybe she just needed to find someone to keep her home…
Meanwhile, Yue Yeon sat on a chair, opposite his chief, and showed him the painting. The chief’s name was Lee Dae Jung and he was a very impressive man.
‘We’ve found the painting, mister,’ Yue Yeon said. ‘But we didn’t find Chai Soo Yoon. She left the painting somewhere. We are still trying to find her, we won’t stop until…’
‘Stop lying, Yue Yeon,’ Dae Jung said. ‘Chai Soo Yoon wouldn’t leave the painting somewhere. She would protect it with her life. She is clever. Now tell me: why are you lying?’
‘I’m not lying, mister, really!’
Dae Jung’s eyes looked through Yue Yeon’s innocent face and through his soul that tried to cover the lies. ‘Yue Yeon, if you don’t tell me what happened RIGHT NOW, I’ll fire you.’
Yue Yeon’s face turned pale. The chief would fire him? He decided to tell about Soo Yoon’s escape.
‘We caught her, but she escaped with a hangglider. She hadn’t the time to take the painting with her.’
‘And why didn’t you tell me...
