Placid Tempest
It was a blistering hot day; I sedately perched on the aged but sturdy wooden deck ahead the damp greenery.

It had rained the night before, thus torrential rain turned the bush into a quagmire. The marshy succulents beautifully filtered out debris and mud which simultaneously cascaded into the main stream.

My mind began to wonder, as it always found fond to do; I soaked in the Hoekwil ravine, a chasm a mile long. Pondering upon the age of this natural gem, the fissure must have taken millennia to form and become the phenomena that it is today.

I glanced into the dark water toward the core of the ravine, it sure looked intriguing- filled with aquatic life; perhaps, known and unknown.
The dark waters collected at the very middle, "What laid beneath there?", I marvelled.

It then occurred to me, that this is life. The placid tempest before me may have been destroyed many times already. Bridges may have collapsed into it; which may have temporarily stopped it's flow but "life" and nature, always finds it's way to go on.

How else does the earth go on? How many times have storms obliterated it's nichè? Ceaselessly, destruction is meant to plague the earth so transformation and renaissance could take place.

I then related my wonderings to myself and my actions. I hoard things in hopes to save them for a future that's absolutely unknown. I have a set mind, a routine, a plan in the making, why? when I am naturally built to survive? like nature does. We have the same maker, don't we?.

No matter where we go or how far we go; if you really believe, you will make it. Like Jim Watkins famous quote, “A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.” , how absolutely apt it is to the situation I present to myself right now?.

How many stories have you heard of people who have pulled themselves out of the pits of depression? Beat an addiction? Healed from physical or mental wounds? This relation is clear to each of us right now, we are in the middle of a global pandemic, most countries are facing a lockdown. This is an international platform, in which ever country you are reading this from right now, it surely pertains to the vast majority of us. As I ponder over my wondering, ponder over yours too.

Marvel at nature and it's persistence, for superior animate beings, we could sure learn a thing or two from the essence in which surrounds us. We are surviving pretty normally on less, we have chopped and changed our work situations, luxuries and outings, yet we seem more in touch with our inner beings now than ever.

I quizzically snapped out of thought, adjusted my rear on the hard wooden chair. Just then I heard faint barks from dogs closeby. I peeked over the marsh and peered down at a beautiful chesnut-coloured dog down at the pass. He motioned me with his cute little snout. I got off my chair and proceeded to join him; taking in deep breaths of the splendour of the tarn. I was in august company with my chestnut friend beside me and his hazel-coloured friend across us on the adjacent river bank. Wallowing in my lofty view, I stood on a rock and posed for a photograph.
