Ann got up about 6 the next morning remembering what her mom asked of her.
Morning breakfast? no mom just coffee. I think you should eat something her mom said handing her a plate of scrambled eggs.
Mom what's this about ? You'll see her mom said now hurry and eat. After they got in the car her mom said are you comfortable
cause it's a nice drive. Yeah mom where are we going? Ann watched as her mom drive out of the city to a kinda wooded area.
There were this white wooden fence for about 2 miles.
She turned down a road still driving next to the fence. About half way in the drive a black stallion started to run with the car in the fence. Ann entire body turned watching the beautiful animal as he playfully raced the car. They pulled into the drive facing this big barn being met by a older lady about her mom's age.
Ann's mom got out to talk to the lady Ann walked over to that big black horse. Already her disabilities didn't matter to her anymore and that is what her mother wanted. Minutes later they came over this is my daughter Ann, Ann this is Annie Waters we've been friends for years.
Wow mom, Ann said. Hi your mom told me about you wanting to be independent and I this is rehabilitation the lady said.
First of all it's your abilities that matters not the the other way around. Never use your disabilities against yourself or for anyone. Don't ever think that you can't here know you will. Let's walk the lady said and they walked all over that ranch. The two ladies talked as if Ann wasn't even there making Ann keep pace. After walking the entire ranch the lady turned to Ann and said you just had your first session.
Ann's face had a look of life for the first time since her accident she was so tired. This is going to be hard work Ann but you will learn to use your ability. No one is going to help you here you'll have to learn your abilities in your way the lady said. After Annie gave her all demands they walked over to the the horse. He's beautiful Ann said will I get to ride him?
That's the thing Ann she said, everybody wants to ride Prance. The day that you see him being brought out for you to ride, you are rehabilitated. That's the day that everybody that come here work for. The horse came over and nudged Ann with his noise, he likes she said. Your day starts a 8 Ann except days of other appointments and you have to do what you're told you ready? Yeah, Ann said shaking her head with a smile. Ann's mom hugged Annie thanks she said getting in the car.
Ann's mom noticed a change thanks mom she said what made you do this. Well you said that you wanted to be independent and thats what I want for you.
Darling do me a favor with this don't put on airs just be you,
let this take as long as it needs.
Mom who is gonna want me like this she asked a woman like me.
Ann you are a better woman than what everybody sees you don't have to do anything but be you. Don't let your appearances be your downfall her mom said. You are a beautiful person and the right person will let you know that what you don't have is as loveable as that you do have. Ann felt better
Back at home Ann called for an appointment to talk to Dr Billing. Rehab and theory Ann was starting to get her life back and liking it again. Getting to the places that I need to be is my biggest disabilities. My right leg is no longer there so I can't drive anymore she told the doctor.
Ann there are things to adapt to your disabilities he said.
You can learn to drive again even with no right leg don't let that stop you.
The beginning Ann what happened, you mean what changed my life. Well yes he said.
Ann looked down I was going home from work and a drunk ran the red light hitting me and the car on the next street. What happened to the drunk? He was killed she said and that's part of the problem.
Meaning there is no one to punish for what happened to you right he said. Ann nothing can or will ever change what has happened you are just going to have to find away to live with it he said. You are going to have to forgive that man, and Ann truly forgive him. A lot of people just say that they forgive for it to sound good. But Ann if you truly forgive a person that have wronged you, there will be no grudge to be held. Forgive the man and Ann get on with your life. We'll talk more next time it's getting late he said knowing she had to catch the 5:00.
Ann left hurrying to catch the 5:00 exspress. When Ann got there the 5 was pulling away there were people standing on both sides of the track so she just waited.
Walking over to the bench there were a lot of faces none of them known to her. When the exspress finally did arrive Ann got on she called her mom to meet her
It wasn't many riders at 6 like 5
but still a lot. As the doors was just closing he ran in, Ann's head lifted her eyes widened. He just stood there in his usual manner.
Soft, smooth Ann thought
Ann shook her why would someone looking like that even be interested in me. Ann noticed that she got to see more of his face each time and knew those features. Why do he stand in the shadows
why do he just watch me not saying anything.
Ann were starting to get nervous it made the ride home seem longer. Him looking in the light made Ann look even harder trying to see who was he.
I know those features she thought and Dr Billing never crossed her mind. Now he was facing the door with his back to
Ann so she let the thought go.
When Ann got in the car, Mom there's this man on the Exspress
she said well I can't see him.
What do you mean her mom asked? He's always on there and he kinda stands in the shadows and I think it on purpose. I can only see his frame the way he's built, what he's wearing but never his face. But the thing is I kinda know his features but I'm not sure from where.
I can take you to your appointments if the Exspress makes you nervous. No that's not it she said nothing like that it's a entirely different feeling. May I'm making too much out of it I'll see next time.
