Chapter -1: Did Abhay kill someone?
#WritcoStoryChallenge
I blinked as I regained consciousness. I had hit my head hard, or had someone hit me? Then I realised I was holding a bloody knife in my hand.
What was that? I freaked out as I threw it away. Did I kill someone? "No way, calm down Abhay," I screamed . I looked around to figure out where I was. It was my house, I remember partying with my friends last night, naah a friend and two strangers to be precise. One of them was Vansh, we met eachother often in the club.
I go to the club to dance, play, watch football with others, and yeah to drink at times. I remember the day me Vansh and I crashed into eachother dancing to our favourite actor's song three months ago. We talked, we had common interests in politics, online games, and instantly became bros. We did go to a trip and that's where we met Harsha and Navya. We had a blast in the trip. It was just four people exploring the adventurous trip.
After the trip, I never got in touch again with the other two. However, when Vansh and I ran into them again in the club, we offered them to join our small party. It suddenly started raining cats and dogs that night. I wasn't sure about their whereabouts, but they said to have been staying in Navya's cousin's house. She had to take the train early in the morning and station was quite close to my home. I suggested, they could stay at my hosuse. Finally, they decided to crash at my place. All we did was cook, eat, and chitchat and but Vansh was insistent on having a small drink to celebrate the reunion and my new job.
Did I get into argument with anyone, I remember Harsha annoying me. Maybe, he triggered me again and I stabbed him? Where were others? They ran from the scene? Being a sane person, I refuse to beleive I could get into physical fights, I never did.
I followed the blood marks on the floor, it looked like someone dragged the body. Where did the body ...injured person go? There was blood all over my hands, clothes, and floor. I breathed heavily, as my heart raced against my chest.
What was I supposed to do? Call the police and surrender myself? Maybe they could help me with something. Wait, why was I assuming I killed someone? What if someone was trying to frame me? If not, why would they hide the body? I was crying, I was frustrated. I cleaned up myself. Went out to check the surroundings of my house. The street was almost empty on that another sunny day, everything was normal. I checked the time, 12:30PM.
Ooh, my phone was still in my pocket, but recent call lists, WhatsApp chats, almost all the data was cleared. It's not like someone knew my password, besides it never had finger print access.
I was going crazy, I lost my mind. I just cleaned up everything. But I collected blood samples, to identify DNA? Blood group? I don't know, I don't know if that's even possible. Maybe I should Google it, but what if police go through the history, it can be used as a proof against me. Then I remembered having a spare mobile.
I had to be at railway station by 8 PM at any cost. I gotta report in my new office. I wasn't sure if I could manage 9 hours journey and then freshen up and go to office. Company was taking care of one week stay, so I wasn't worried about it, what bothered me was...what if police come tracking me? I can't imagine losing face in public with accusation of a mudrerer. May be, he was just injured and others run away with him? That's possible. Yes, I was telling myself everything to feel a little better.
I pulled myself together, booked a cab, greeted neighbours like every other day the evening.
I reached the station beforehand. It felt like I was being watched. Maybe, I was overthinking. I boarded the train, I immediately climed up to my upper berth. I couldn't sleep a wink. Train reached the destination before hand.
I took cab to the hotel alloted by my company. It was pretty good. I tried to look confident and clam as I walked to my cabin in office. Except my team lead and I, others were in different locations. My bad.
“Hello Mr. Abhay!" The voice sounded familiar. I turned around to greet my teamlead.
“What the hell!" I almost choked. It was Navya.
