A young man named Mayank moved into an apartment in a suburb area of the city. On the first evening, he was trying to sleep in his new apartment when suddenly he listened to a knock on his door. He got up, unlocked the gate and found a young woman standing there. She admitted guilt for disturbing and informed him that she was his neighbour and her husband had beaten her up so she wants to spend the night on his couch. She promised that she would get up early the next morning and call her family to pick her up. The man nodded politely and agreed to let her stay. Although it appeared strange to him, he got her settled comfortably on the sofa and then went back to bed. The next morning, as soon as he got up, he discovered that the living room was vacant and the woman already was gone. He assumed that her family must have probably arrived to pick her and she was now safe. That night, similarly like the previous night, there was a knock on his door. There was the same young woman. She told him that her husband had beaten her up again and asked if she could spend another night on his sofa. The next morning, he woke up to find that she had disappeared again. The man grew doubtful and asked the owner of the apartment and neighbours about the lady. The landlord’s face grew pale, he told him that there is an abandoned flat on the other side of the road and the woman who inhabited there died a few years back, after being smashed to death by her husband whose name was Mayank.
