The Vampire and the Human (chapter 1)
Sephtis had joined his scouts for a annual grounds patrol when he was notified by the head guard that they sensed a human around. Sephtis calmly nodded and motioned for the group to start heading back to the manor.
"I'll serve the situation. I'll be right back if it's something that needs backup, but I suspect it'll be a simple traveler" Sephtis said. In a puff of cold black mist, Sephtis disappeared into the trees. He perched himself high on a branch, watching the human from a distance for the time being.
His eyes peered suspiciously through the trees down at the man, trying to decide if he was a threat or not.
After watching her for a while, Sephtis concluded she was, in fact, not a threat. Just a lost peasant as he had thought.
With another swift brush of black mist, he appeared in the trees behind the man, being careful not to have shown how he got there.
His frilled white button down was coveted mostly by a black fitted coat and accessorized by a single blood red broach. It was clear that he was a man of power and wealth.
"Lost your way, dear?" He asked, voice clear and smooth as velvet as he addressed the man. His lips curled into a small, charming smile.
The man jumped at the sound of the voice, quickly whipping around to see who had spoken. He squinted, trying to make out the details of the stranger and picked up his bag defensively.
“I- I don’t want any trouble- if you’re looking for something to steal I’ve got nothing of value.” He said, trying to sound confident, although failing horribly.
"Hey hey, no need to be on edge dear" Sephtis held up his hand like he was trying to calm down a wild horse.
"I simply want to help" Sephtis said "Are you lost? Did you cone from the village? You know that it's dangerous to explore out here in the forest past dusk, don't you?"
The man looked at the stranger,...
