My back bled furiously as I went upstairs. I couldn't turn invisible that night for my barren stepmother cuffed me before cutting my wings off.
When my dad returned, I told him all she always did to me while he was away. He trusted her, not me, because they had been together for fifteen years before I came into the picture, and she wouldn't want to harm me.
The day I sought help from Enforcement, I became a tailless animal.
The next day, I ingested a toxic, brown fluid.
The next week, I was being lowered into the muddy ground.
