The loud blast startled us all. On its heels the plane nose-dived. "Jump out now!"
The squadron leader opened the hatch. It looked like a gaping gateway to hell. One by one the soldiers jumped into the dark abyss. I was the last to go, I looked around for anymore parachutes and found none, I then looked around for any of the crew members, I saw a little girl crying and as I picked her up, I went towards the pilot, I saw he was injured, a sharp like object pierced through his lower abdomen, I quickly the girl's face in my shoulder so as to rid her of early trauma, "Thank you for saving my daughter", my eyes widened, I nodded, "hold on, let me get you out of there", I said as the little girl I was carrying began to cry, "No, no", the pilot said, "There's no time. I have a favor to ask of you", he brought out something from his pocket, something that looked like a recorder, it had a tape inside, he took it out and gave it to me, while I took it, I looked and saw that we were moving towards the floor and we were dangerously close to it, "Hey, Jackson, take care of my daughter for me, treat her as if she was your own, this tape I just gave you contains the lullaby of her mother, it's the only thing that calms her down, I'm yet to give her a name, so would you do me the honors?", the pilot asked, I looked at this pretty little girl I carried and felt the need to protect her, "I will, but before I go, you have to do something", I said as I brought the baby to him, he seemed to understand and accepting the child, he kissed her forehead, "I'll name her Emilia", I said as that was the only name I thought of at the time, he chuckled, "Emilia, it suits her", he said and gave the baby back to me, after which he died, we were at 1000 feet above the floor and I jumped out with my new responsibility, hoping to be the man her father entrusted me to be
