Beyond the shores (Chapter four )
The days that followed after were never easy but Lorna persevered despite the challenges she faced.
She was determined to succeed in educating the children of this remote village.
And succeed she did. She was recognized by the education department and got her story published in the local paper.
Her mother who was always worried read the article with pride and shed tears.
And soon it was time to go on holidays.
Her family had long awaited this time to see their beautiful daughter.
She was also eager to see them as well after a long year.
Upon arrival, her mother especially ran towards her and hugged her so tight she almost suffocated her.
Everyone drove home singing happily all the way.
There was a big welcome party organized and the neighbors joined in to celebrate Lorna's return.
"Mum this is a surprise, I wasn't expecting this sort of welcome," she said hugging her mother once more.
"We all missed you!" Shouted the welcome party.
Lorna felt humbled. She felt so special. She didn't think her absence affected her neighborhood so badly.
Well the party ended quickly because everyone knew Lorna had come a long way and she needed to rest.
The next day in the early morning, during breakfast, Lorna's parents gave her the next surprise. It was probably the most beautiful news she'd heard in such a long time.
"For enduring a very long and hard year, we decided we should all go on a family holiday," Lorna's mother announced excitedly.
"Really dad?" Lorna looked at her father like a small child wanting answers.
"We're going on a family holiday to Fiji," his father confirmed.
Lorna's excitement grew even bigger.
For that was where her best friend lived.
