Chapter 1: Unexpected Tears

Mike and Lisa had been roommates for a year now, and they were the best of friends.
Lisa was a gorgeous and fun-loving woman, with a wayward attitude that only added to her charm.
Mike couldn't help but be drawn to her, and he knew that no one else would ever take her place in his dreams.

One evening, as Mike was getting ready to go out, he heard the front door burst open followed by the sound of crying.
He caught a glimpse of Lisa as she hurried up to her bedroom.
He heard the screeching of Tim's tires and assumed it must be Tim,
Lisa's boyfriend whom she had been dating for a few months now.

Mike couldn't ignore the sound of Lisa's sobs, so he decided to follow her.
He could hear her crying through her closed bedroom door, but he couldn't bring himself to leave her alone.
He gently rapped on her door and called out, 'Lisa, can I come in?'

'Go away, Mike!' came Lisa's muffled voice through the door.

But Mike was worried about her, so he waited a few seconds before slowly opening the door and entering her room.
He found her lying face down on her bed, her body shaking with each sob.
He sat down on the bed and placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to offer her some comfort.

Lisa turned towards him and hugged him tightly, her tears staining his shirt.
Mike could tell that something was truly bothering her, and he didn't want to push her to talk about it.
He gently stroked her hair as she cried into his chest, until she calmed down a little.
