Here All Along (Chapter 2)
Alex's POV.
'You're my best friend ever' 'You're my best friend ever'. This kept ringing in my head as I walked home that afternoon and even till the next day.
Maya had been my best friend for the past 12 years. The first day I saw her is still fresh in my mind like it happened yesterday.
Her family had just moved into the neighborhood and my mom told me to be nice to her because we were almost the same age(just two months difference. I was born in june while I was born in September) That day, mom told me to be nice and accompany Maya to the park because her mom had somewhere to go. I wasn't exactly happy because i had a lot of other things i had planned for that day. I went over to their house prepared to see a little spoiled brat who wore bows and expected everyone to bow down to her.
I was shocked to see a friendly face as she opened the door to welcome me. "Would you like to come in?" She asked in the sweetest voice i had ever heard. "Yeah, sure." I said. When we both sat down, she was so apologetic. "I'm so sorry for infringing on your time, i'm sure you had a lot of other plans which definitely didn't involve me" she began... "You bet" i thought to myself. My mom still thinks i'm too young to go to the park alone"she said. "No problem. You know, actually, i thought i wasn't gonna like you but it seems we're gonna get along just fine." I told her. "I hope so" she said to me.
From that day, we became inseparable. Most of my memories were made with her. I didn't realize it at first, but along the line, i fell in love with her. She doesn't know this though. To her, i'm her 'best friend ever'. Seeing her give Jake her number this afternoon made me angry but i tried not to be too obvious and acted just like a caring friend. She's so kind, caring and i'd hate it if she ever got hurt because of Jack. He might be one of the rich kids but he's still a jerk.
Over the years, it's been kind of hard to conceal my true feelings from Maya. I...
