Doomed To Burn: Chapter 10 (Beth's Interlude Part 2)
There was something Beth didn't tell Aaron. It was that the speech about the stones was a complete lie. Well, except for the part about Derek. She really did want to kill him. But never got the opportunity. Beth wanted to kill Aaron too, but he was getting "too clever" so she made up the stones and the 8-minute warning, even though it was scientifically accurate. She just wanted him gone. Also, the cabin wasn't really hers either. She had a knack for making convincing lies.

After Aaron ran off, she wanted to leave too.
So she went inside the cabin, went to the closet and grabbed the can of gasoline she used for the furnace. She carefully poured a puddle of gas and grabbed a book of matches.

She lit up the matches and within moments the puddle went up in flames. She walked out and closed the door. She paused. She locked the door.

She gave one last glimpse of the cabin.

She remembered her way to the highway a mile or so from the cabin. As she walked she realized that she didn't have a plan. Everything with Aaron was planned but no future plans. She felt something in her pocket. It was the picture of Derek and Amber. She tore it so that Derek was gone from the photo. She tossed his part aside and put ambers part in her pocket

She heard something as she got closer to the road. Beth saw something blue. It didn't look like a pond or a river. It was a brighter blue than that. Then she heard loud coughing.

As Beth got closer she saw what was blue. It was a makeshift tent. The blue she saw was a blue tarp. There was coughing again and Beth went behind a tree and peeked around. It looked like a makeshift tent. She peeked again.

"Someone in there?" She yelled out. No answer. She went from behind the tree and crunched on a twig. "Whos that?" A voice from the tent said. The voice was a very raspy woman.

"Just passing through," Beth said casually.

The woman peeked her head out. She was an older woman with a heavily wrinkled face. But she had a youngness that Beth couldn't figure out. "What do you want?" A sharp cough

"Nothing I just-"
"Are you from immigration? NHPD? Homeland security?"
"No...I told you that-"
The woman suddenly pulled out a gun. It was .22. Didn't really phase her.

"Bitch, get the fuck away!"
"All I wanted to know was the way to the highway" She backed off. Went behind the tree. The woman scoffed and went back to the cabin.

Mom...ran away from the nursing home again...not a surprise she doesn't know who I am..

Beth stretched her hand around the tree and shot off an orb towards the tent.

First came the screaming. She could feel the flesh burning. "I knew it was you…." Her mom groaned out before her vocal cords totally melted down.

Beth walked over to the tarp. Her mom's corpse was still smoking. She looked inside and looked in. Not much was there except a knife that was caked in animal blood. On her wrist was a plastic medical band

Of course she heard the rumors about one of the members of the family. But it was all conjecture. And believed none of it.

Beth checked her pockets. Nothing. She checked the gun. No bullets either.
She wrapped up the body in the tarp, making sure that the body was tight and secure.

Beth peered over and saw a cliff nearby. At the bottom was a river. She rolled the body over towards the edge. She let out a light sigh and pushed it off.

As she walked off. She heard the splash. Nothing is holding her back now. She only had only more things she wanted to do: Get Amber back.

She saw an abandoned car on the side on the road. Luckily, She knew how to hotwire one.
