Just A Dream
#WritcoStoryPrompt3
I read it once, then twice. I wasn't imagining it - I had won the lottery! I run downstairs and to the telephone, dialing my parent's number to tell them the news.

At the second ring, i heard my mother's soft voice. "Hello, Hannah," Mother said.

"Mom, I won the lottery!" I said into the phone happily. I lived in a cheap flat and I had so many problems with the place. I looked at the bucket catching the leak from the ceiling as it dripped loudly.

"Wow, sweetie. That's wonderful," Mother said, her voice raspy.

"Now I can pay for your Cancer Surgery... right?" I asked, not even masking the worry in my voice.

"Sweetie," My mom began. I could already picture the frown on her face as the corners of her lips wrinkled. "You have to let me go." The soft beep of the line going dead rung in my ears as I sighed.

I looked over at the picture on the wall that showed me at my mother's funeral and I let a tear fall down my cheek.

Suddenly, my alarm rung, indicating that I had to wake up.

It was all just a dream.
