Swati
It was an easy relation . She never expected to find love so easily after her husband's death. She was already fifty, a fit fifty. But to Tushar nothing meant anything beyond the fact that she was Swati.
They would have married each other on the second day if laws of the land permitted. Aligning to it, they submitted the request with proofs. Swati noted with reluctance that Tushar was actually thirty seven. That had been the first lie. He had introduced himself as forty five and then laughed the five years that laid in between . Now it appeared to be almost 13 years of difference. Swati wondered why .. while attractive and working, she was not exactly a catch. She looked at her almost perfect , doll like image and counted imperfections. She was much shorter than his 6 ft. She wore glasses, dressed presently, loved her grown up children in hostels completing their masters. She almost wished they could come here and met him.
Both her sons were excellent judge of character. But unknown to Tushar who hated photographs, wore a cap too low, she started sharing her messages and photos of him taken when he was unaware.
She was almost certain that Tushar had an ill intension. But she wanted to know what it was and protect her sons from having to be exposed to it. Her friends also knew and wanted her to leave the city. She stayed and waited for his move. Catching his eye always wherever she looked was always romance .. now it was a cage. She wanted to end it all. Guessing her intension, her sons had caught the flight and sent her a message to stay at home.
But she went out and suddenly she realised why did Tushar seemed common like an old friend. Many years ago, her eldest sister was Tushar's father 's wife for a brief period. Soon the ladies in his father's life bothered her eldest sister leave the family. This led to the three children starving to death as their father had refused to return on phone with her eldest sister.
As she settled down in the car she whispered her good bye. Tushar was a bit crazy today. Soon she fainted . When she woke up in a god foresaken land , connection with the city seemed a myth. She was alone and hungry. She forgot about food and hummed . Slowly she lost consciousness .Never to wake again .
When her sons landed they broke into tears and started searching for their missing mother. Tushar was there present , as major doctors all tried to work a solution, the twins did not speak to him. He tried to explain what happened." She fainted and locked the room. She was my life, how and why can I hurt her.. I finally opened the door and brought her here to the doctor.
Ultimately ..It was a promise to their mother ..They never spoke to Tushar. Never reacted to words that were infamatory .. and slowly ignored hin. He was a non entity.
