Magdalene could not keep a check on her emotional thread after Fritz had joined the faculty. Something was unleashing in her heart but she had fastened it chiding herself often though wondering how in so late her years of placid unruffled life of hers was now rippling and the stone thrown into the waters of her quiet staid life was Fritz which she vehemently denied to herself .
Fritz in the mean time had gained a lot admirers and fans afrom the teachers and the students though it was just a couple of months since he had joined here.Magdalene on the other hand kept far from him doing her work and leaving back to her little house as soon as the evening bell goes. She had hardly spoken to him except when he was introduced in the Staff Meeting as the new P .T. teacher.
Magdalene was the Teacher in Charge almost like an Assistant principal post brought her to meet him but except for a few exchanges she kept golden silence.
She thanked the Maker that their roles as singing teacher kept her within the Music Room and Fritz as a P T.teacher on the play ground.
This kibd of routine was like a safe mode but that Monday Morning a Principal Circular reminding them of the 1 st tri -semester was drawing to a close and the next week woukd be the Sports day and so academic teachers must finish portions in the first half of the Timetable and give over for Practicing the Common School Drill, the March past and the items of different sports.
Magdalene herself knew it was nt a new strategy for Music classes and Hand Work classes to be given to the P.T teacher for practising the games and most important to assist him on the field .However Magdalene didnt relish this in this year for reasons known only to her.
Magdalene was put in Charge of the Items March past,Exercises using Dumbels and Lesiums and Flag hoisting. Since she had to carry out alongside with Fritz Magadalene felt an
unknown jitters and she didnt like it at all.
The practise began and Magdalene adopted a safe technique to put as much distance between her and him.She listened to him but never indulge in an conversation. Two days went off in a smooth manner but there was another a week more to go.
As usual her dreams were as though Fritz was glaring in an angry manner and she would wake up fitfully in the morning .
She was some what comfortable because Miss Rajalaksmhi the Hand-Worker teacher a spinster in her 53 years her only best friend for years was there so she went on well as Fritz was on easy going friendly and on talking terms with Miss Raji and she too fondly looked upon him like a son.This itself was not liked by Magadalene but she couldn't tell anything for fear Raji would see anything behind her behaviour.
This day went all hay wire as Raji who had arthritis problem took off the afternoon and excused herself to Fritz who readily agreed
What he said in casual tones ',Oh no problem Miss Raji,you go along I have the Assistance of Miss Magdalene so hassles "
Hearing this Magdalene frowned involuntarily and became all flustered from the Lunch time .
She gave instructions to the Students but with a moody stern expression and conducted the session but remained as far as possible from him .She hardly said a few words to him refused the coffee break for having to stand in close proximity with him in the Staff room .
The time neared 5 oclock and the bell rang Fritz dismissed the students and that's all Magdalene was seeming running like rabbit towards the Staff room and picked up the Hand bag and made a dash outside when all of a sudden the voice of Fritz made her to halt," Excuse Miss Maggie "and Magdalene was stunned as no one had addressed her name in the shortened form since her family only her parents who were now no more and her friends in School had addressed her this way .She freezed and turned to look at him and he was standing across her path as though she might walk away from fear of confronting.....
