To Close or Not to Close

“Tet, there’s a spider. It’s coming!”

My brother’s warning found its way into the core of my nerves. It alerted my sleepy head and made me change my position on the bed. I looked at the pieces of wood supporting our roof. Nothing. I kept on looking. Again, nothing. I thought my brother was up to some pranks again, but I was wrong.

“There.” My brother looked serious, pointing at something. “There.”

I eyed what he was pointing and then I felt goose bumps all over. I couldn’t even look at it for three seconds.

“It was going down a while ago. Directly towards your face.”

The image of the large brown spider kept on entering my mind days after, forcing me to constantly check for chances of being stunned in the worst way I could imagine. Sometimes I could see it, sometimes I couldn’t....
