Raging Waves
"As the waves of the flood raged.
I never let your grandma go.
I have focused all my strength
just to keep holding her hand.
Because I vow infront
of her parents and
the Almighty above.

'In sickness and in health
Till death do us part.'

and the stars are witnesses
when I promised her
that even if the world is against her,
I'll be by her side.

But your grandma didn't vow
or promise me anything.

As the waves raged.
As it keeps pushing us further,
from the tree that we take refuge in.
So, we wouldn't be swallowed
by the waves that seem so intently focused to keep us apart.

I vividly remember it,
Like it happen just a second ago.
Your grandma is the one
who willingly let go
as she said
I'll just get dragged by her.

It all happened too quickly.
When realization finally hit me.
She's already far away
and I can't do anything,
but scream how much I love her. "

My grandpa tells us this story
so many times
but no matter how much I heard it.
It still continue to break my heart
because it's like, grandpa is still seeing
how grandma let go of his hand.

You can see the horror and helplessness in his face as if he's still in the middle of the raging waves.

It is almost a decade when the typhoon that hit our homeland occurred. It is almost 10 years when it nearly submerged our place and completely erased it in the map. It is way too long ago, but it still continue to haunt the supposed survivors.

Did they really survive? why does it seem to me they are still stranded in the past?
