Anna was a seventeen-year-old girl with red hair blue eyes light skin from Russia. unlike me black hair brown eyes and from Texas, but that didn't matter to us we talked about the friendship that we had. What's behind at our old towns we left behind,
so I told Anna I would be going to my grandmother's for the summer joking around I told her I wish she could come with me,
it was getting late I told Anna I would see her tomorrow at school my mom was outside to pick me up the next morning at school Anna finds me and tells me that she would like to go with me to my grandmother's house and that she has money to pay for her way there and back
so I asked my mother and she was okay with it if it was okay with Grandma
it came to the last day of school I told Anna we could go to her place first to pack then to my place and stay the night of the flight was early in the morning my mom was ok with that,
we were up and packed all ready to go by 8 a.m. excited to get going we loaded up and made it to the airport got dropped off check-in sat for about 20 minutes before we loaded the plane
once we landed I called my grandmother but she didn't pick up
good thing Anna had cash on her
because we had to get a taxi we finally made out to the cabin where my grandmother lives, I knocked but again no answer at the door..when I remembered that my grandmother keeps a key under the rock in the backyard grabbed it and I let our selves in and put our bags by the living room entrance, I called out grandmother, grandmother are you home still no answer, I walked around the house
we were both hungry so I told Anna we should look for something to snack on, there was plenty of food in the fridge and cubed so we had sandwiches and chips and a soda..we sat in the living room and watched some tv. grandmother never showed up we fell asleep,
around 4 in the morning, I woke up for a drink of water, as I got up right next to the big window I heard howling I sat up on the couch looking out the window it was so dark very little light to see what it was looking at me, didn't think much of it and went back to sleep
woke up to the sun shining on my face. anna was already up cooking eggs and toast but what got me to get up was the smell of fresh coffee
we sat down by the pool on the side of the house after we ate we cleaned up our mess, anna stayed by the pool, I went upstairs to see if grandmother was back yet, I went about my day, put my swimsuit on, and joined anna by the pool, and asked her if she would like to walk down to the lake with me and go for a swim, it was about 30 to 40 feet away from the house I said, as
Anna and I were walking down to the lake anna were up ahead of me, I dropped my cellphone in the thicker grass,
as I was trying to find it I can hear something behind me. I could see Anna in front of me, I saw a paw print in the mud it was like a dog paw print only bigger, I stood up
I could not see anything, but sure of hearing something out there I thought I heard my name being called, finally, I found my cellphone and joined Anna, as we were swimming Anna tells me I feel like we are being watched, I told Anna about the paw print, she asked if we could leave. she wanted to go back inside,
we are ok Anna. just a few more feet and we are home, the whole time we were walking back to the house we could hear the dry leaves being stepped on, we ran wheezing and gasping for air, we made it inside the house locking the door behind us, scared and trying not to cry, I looked in my grandma's room once more. trying to figure out where my grandmother was we were scared,
anna and I decided to sleep together on the couch curled up after anna fell to sleep I heard a noise outside I grabbed my flashlight and opened the front door to see what was out there, as I was walking around outside in the dark a film of fog started to fill the air making it hard to see, I was walking around to the left side of the house all I remember is running into someone or something and when I opened my eyes there was this thing covered in fur looking down at me. those eyes seemed so familiar to me, I gathered everything in me to get myself up and run back inside the house, run up to my grandmother's room jumped on her bed, and cried never been so scared, and there it was a letter from my grandmother one for me and one for my mom I opened my letter it had my name on it, as I was reading it anna walked in the bedroom the letter falls to the hard Wood floor saying I don't understand I ran back downstairs and out the front door there it was waiting for me. I looked straight into its eye saying is that you grandmother can't be I said
but those eyes it was my grandmother
