That evening!
I stayed in a very small town when I was in my academies. This incident emerged to me when I was in my 10th standard and I still get goosebumps mentioning about it. I recall it was in the evening and I was acquired in my tuition class. Normally I used to wait for the auto to drop me to my habitat but that day I didn't happen to find any. It was sprinkling and was already very delayed so I agreed on to walk to my home instead of holding off for the auto, as it was difficult to get one in such weather.
I kept walking in the frostiness, the whole street was peaceful and nobody was visible around. It was a little scary but I took my phone out and began to play some restful songs to distract my sense. That's what I usually do when worried.
While I was stepping down the street lonely I chose to take a shortcut through the railroad subway under the bridge. It was almost deserted and the only creature visible was a tea vendor sitting far from me near the railway trails. I kept walking impatiently and shortly touched on the other side of the channel. Suddenly, I saw a woman and her child standing and staring at me from the window of the close cottage, from the one we name the railway residence colony given to the railway crew. For a bit I avoided them believing that it was very familiar in a small town to locate such curious people when they see a lonely girl walking on the roads at night. I jerked my backpack and nearly ran towards the central road. Within a minute I listened to the feminine voice from behind addressing me 'ladki'. I veered around and saw the same woman along with her child looking at me and smiling. It was a little strange but I inquired her if she needed something, she chuckled and asked me to reach safely as the street was deserted and several criminals stayed in that neighbourhood. I thanked her and hurried as soon as possible. In not more than a twinkling, I saw the same woman stepping towards me from the opposite direction, I was scared because I left her behind. She asked me to stop and asked, " are you still here? I asked you to go safe. Hurry up".
I nodded and walked off from her when suddenly I saw my father appearing from the other side. I relaxed and turned around but couldn't find the lady or the kid anywhere.
The extremely second day I read the news in the regional newspaper that a young lady with her 3 years old kid was found dead near the railway track and with the autopsy, it was disclosed that she died a few days back and both of them were killed by something sharp and metallic.
I, however, don't know who did I met that darkness and talked to but who so ever she was, I still get spooked thinking about her.
