The Solo Travelers
#SoloTravelers

Vishal loved adventures. He liked exploring new places and made sure to visit some every year.
Once when he visited Delhi for the first time, he was overwhelmed by the new city. He was a foodie himself and while he was exploring the various roadside stalls, he noticed a girl eating with a group of others. He thought they were localites. He had a camera with him and kept clicking pictures, while trying out some of the fast foods.
Then he visited the Red Fort. He clicked a lot of pictures and sat down to give his feet some rest. While he was going through the photos, he found one of the girls whom he saw before. That girl was in one of the photos with a camera in her hands. He got up and tried searching for her but didn't find her there.
He came back to his hotel, and while he was getting inside his room, he spotted the same girl inside the hotel sitting on a sofa, with a phone in her hand.
He went to her and said, "Hi, I'm Vishal."
The girl didn't look up. He then went and sat beside her. Then the girl looked at him. He continued, "Actually, I saw you a few times today. In the food stalls, then in the Red Fort, and now here in this hotel. Are you a traveller?"
The girl nodded her head. He asked, "That's nice. Me too! What is your name?"
She didn't respond and ignored him. He thought it was rude of her. And then he got up and left without another word.
Next day, as usual he had his day planned and as he was about to go out of the hotel, he remembered the incident with the girl last night. He thought to himself that the girl looked beautiful but she was extremely arrogant.
While thinking he stepped out and heard two people conversing outside the hotel.
"She was very sweet though. She never forgot to bring candies and chocolates for us. Everyday she sat on the sofa and edited her pictures to send the organisation to get some money to save her ailing mother." One man said.
"Yes, and her photography skills were also great. If only we could do something for her." Another man said.
"Maybe we can pray. Prayers are powerful. I'm sure God will help her.
Vishal was stunned to hear all this. He went and asked them, "Which girl are you talking about?"
"The girl who used to sit on that sofa every evening. We don't know if you know her. Though she used to come here everyday and helped the small children here, you are just a visitor. You won't know her." A man said.
"I know her." Vishal replied. "What happened to her?"
"She left today morning. Everyday she used to go on a competition of either eating food, or photography, or painting, and win cash prize. Or she used to try to earn money by sending her works to various directors. And, the saddest part is..." He stopped.
"What is it?" Vishal asked.
"You said that you know her. Then why are you asking us?" The man said annoyingly.
"I'm sorry, Sir. I had just seen her a few times. I don't really know her." Vishal said.
"Many people misunderstand. She can neither hear nor speak. And she came here a month ago. She keeps going to various places like this." He said.
Vishal realised his mistake. He judged her without even knowing what she was going through. "Where did she go?" Vishal asked.
"No idea." The man replied sadly.
"Do you have her phone number?" Vishal asked again.
"No, she never gave us any scope of contacting her." The man said.
Finally, he asked, "Do you know her name?"
"No, but she asked us to call her Mithi, because that was her nickname." The man said and left.
Vishal stood there for sometime and silently apologized to her for judging her the whole time. From what he heard just now, she was a beautiful soul indeed. He hoped that he would bump into her again someday, in his journey.
