Lovers in a dangerous time
Debby and Bank met at a luncheon organized by the Nigerian Labor Congress in Lagos. Debby was a senior program officer in an international ngo based in Lagos. And Bank, a promising lawyer and human right activist. as the evening wore on, their chat became animated and their spirit elated.
Debby remarked in the middle of their conversation, “it is so easy to talk with you. I mean, it is like as if we’ve known each other for years.” ‘And’, she paused, ‘I must confess, you’re the first man I would find very engaging and entertaining.’ “Debby come off it!” Bank replied somewhat shy. Debby did likewise and they exchanged numbers. “l’ll call you first tonight, exactly 11pm”, Bank promised as he down the last pint of wine in his glass. ‘that late?’ Debby queried. Immediately, it dawned on them both that this is was love at first sight.
