A Saturday
#UndercoverAgent

It has been a month since I started living in a new apartment, a little far away from home. The job I was working in, gave me a decent salary to live a comfortable life. I had almost decorated the whole place in this past month.
It was a Saturday. While I was enjoying my holiday, I heard some noise outside. I peeked to find some new unwrapped boxes being moved by two people. They were trying to move those inside the apartment next to mine. I saw a man and his wife, presumably, talking to those men in slurred speech.
"Sorry, Mr. Agarwal. We didn't understand how it slipped from our hands and fell. We humbly apologize for breaking the frame." One man said.
"How careless this modern generation is! Do you know the value of this frame? Can you fix this?" The man wearing a black coat and hat said in an angry tone.
"Sorry, Sir." They said in unison.
"Sorry, huh! How convenient!" Said my new neighbour.
I didn't like the way he was talking to those men. It was obvious that they didn't break it purposely. He didn't need to be so mad about it. He himself with his attire and behaviour looked quite suspicious, just like an undercover agent.
I tried to ignore them and decided to go out to have some peace.
After taking an evening stroll for about an hour or two, I came back. As I was about to open my door, I saw that it was already ajar. I got scared and ran inside to check, hoping to find missing items, or maybe thieves. I searched everywhere but there was nothing missing. I found a brown box on top of a table. I thought of discarding it but then I went out and knocked on the door next to mine. The new habitants might have seen someone coming inside my house, since they were moving in, when I went out. But, no one opened the door.
After contemplating for sometime, I thought of opening the box. I opened it and found a piece of newspaper inside. It was an old news stating that,
Mr. Agarwal and his wife were found dead inside their house this Saturday morning. A suicide note was found by the police. The couple killed themselves because their house was under mortgage and could no longer be theirs. An agency fooled them, took the money and ran away. Their house will soon be made into an apartment in a year. People have already started showing their interests to live there. But their suicide note states that after the couple's death, they wouldn't let anyone live in their house. Nevertheless, most of the people these days don't believe in such things.
I started trembling as soon as I read this, and immediately the lights started flickering inside, before turning off.
