A Tale Of Eternal Memory
Chapter Five.

My need draws her into my radius as if I am the sun and she the earth.
She finds that her movements are directed by the might of my gravity.
Even against her will she twirls around me, displaying her beauty for my eyes alone.
Her ritual mating dance I view with no hope of overcoming the desire such a magical performance invokes in my being.
I cannot resist her feminine essence, which fills the air around my domain like sacred smoke rising from the mystical incense burning in an abalone shell.
She entices me to claim her and then she resists my desire, but I am unashamed, nor dampened by her swift and unforeseen rejection of my claim.
I am not dissuaded by her rejection, for I know that in her rejection of me she must ultimately reject her own nature.
She is a young spirit, this Maiden-Soul, and I am an ancient spirit, and patient.
She came to me in the summer and she reaped the ultimate share of my prolific and golden harvests.
But does she not know that the autumn still maintains production from the vine, and from the blood of those who must be sacrificed to maintain the perpetual motion of the Cycle?
Does she not know that I am her willing sacrifice?
I am the harvest that shall sustain her through the frigid and trying Tide of the Long Dark.
And though she freed herself from the one who chained her, does she not understand that the spirit of the earth must be imprisoned for the duration of the winter?
There is only one who can liberate her luminous spirit from the shadow of all that used to be, and I am that one.
I am The Lord of the Wild and she is my Lady Sovereign.
I am not her ruler, yet I possess sole authority in the ruling of her domain.
And yet it is her essence that rules my existence, and so my reign is nothing without her.
I am the dormant seed that harbors the potentiality of life in the Cosmos.
And she is the universe, in whole and in miniature form.
Will she perform her duty and take my energy into her eternal being, that she might give birth to new life-bearing worlds?
She is everything, and I am nothing without her....
