Changing hurricanes
Dela's days were long the hour are hard and her feet hurt from her standing on them for sometimes 12 hours a day.
As she argued back and forth with the Lord in her head she repeatedly said to him I understand she stopped looked at the ceiling as if the Lord was one of the tiles and said..
please just help me hold my peace.
She needed help with all the hurt so not to get stupid when he finally dotted her door the first chance he got. She knew he was coming because she knew his so call mind set.
Surely enough Friday night he came while she was out getting her nails and hair done at the shop knowing that Friday, Saturday and Sunday's was Dela's days off. Using his key to let himself in Dela stopped reading her the door open.
You still reading that book he asked
no I finished Becoming I'm reading The light we carry now they're good reads you should read them
I love the way she writes in a very claim low voice.
Dela didn't want to start a fight like she always did to prevent having sex with him the body's weak you know she wanted a seriousness about things so there would be no misunderstandings of what she said.
He sat down in his lazy boy Lord of chair could talk
now see this is where things got kinda sticky.
Dela put the book down...
See if he laid the chair back it meant two things and he did hell flew in Dela.
She stood up putting her hands on her hips
Scoot why are you here she asked still mind in a soft low mindful voice walking to the kitchen
hold me Jesus she thought.
She fixed him his usual coffee nothing crossed her mind no this isn't like that grits thing.
Handing him his coffee she asked again, adding
is this the kinda respect that you have for your wife?
Scott put the coffee down on the table beside the chair reached up taking her hand pulling her between his legs. His hands slowly went under her tee shirt like he's ways did before they well...
She pulled away stepped back relaxed on one hip and asked him..
Scoot now I know you don't honestly think that I'm going to sit up here and be one of those women that will let you run back and forth from her to me you know me better than that
don't you?
Baby our time together was over the minute you touch her and I know you that, why think I always pick a fight when you came over here when I found out you were seeing her.
Sweetheart, you married this woman you're no longer my man this woman got papers on you we can't be together no more that's over with.
I'm not mad anymore I got over being mad long time ago and I'm now getting over the hurt.
Scott looked down at the floor, then looked up at her I'm sorry ok.
Yeah me too she said tears balled up in Dela' eyes
but seriously baby she said
baby what I need you to do is don't hold grudges as you put my keys on the table my phone number out your mind and have only the decency to speak whenever we see each other. He stared unringing her key laid on the table got up and walked out.
Dela was hurting but thought about the lyrics of that song this ain't no can't have one woman gotta have three. She didn't know what the future looked like with another relationship but she knew that she wasn't willing to love to live like that.
