My Monster's Legacy
I was bullied a lot in school. Teenagers love having someone to talk about. Apparently, if you don't date anyone in high school, people assume you are a lesbian. Doesn't matter that they actually don't know anything about you or your past. It's not like anyone talked about sexual abuse or molestation when I was growing up. It happens; it's always happened; I can only imagine how many others grew up in quiet shame, hating themselves.

I have always had issues with depression. I can remember sitting in the bathroom when I was in 8th grade, crying and imagining slitting my wrists. I could only imagine it; I was too much of a coward to actually do it.

When I was about to start 10th grade, my mom finally reached a settlement for the lawsuit against the towboat company that allowed my stepfather, my monster, to bleed to death when a steel cable broke, smacking him in the face.

She bought a new house, furniture, and many other things. Money was put into bank accounts for my half-sister...
