Everything
“What’s that?”
“That’s a traffic light.”
“What’s that?”
“That’s a bus.”
“What’s that?”
“A dog poo.”
“What’s that?”
“A tree.”
“Doesn’t look like a tree.” He prodded the tree. “Doesn’t feel like one, either.”
I sighed and rubbed my forehead where a dull pain was beginning to blossom. “It’s a tree. Now please be quiet, you’re giving me a headache.”
“What’s that?”
“What’s what?”
“A headache.”
“Could you please stop asking questions!” I snapped.
“But I don’t KNOW anything! I need to know or my brain will explode!”
I sunk down on a nearby bench and gave up. “Fine, what do you need to know?”
He stopped and thought about this for a while. “Everything.”
“Everything?”
“Yes.” He sat beside me and stared expectantly, his bright blue eyes flashing up at me. “everything” “I can’t tell you everything!”
“Why not?”
“Because it would take too long and I’d be late for school.” I got up and started walking again, beckoning for him to follow.
“What’s school?”
“It’s a place we go to learn things.”
“What kind of things?”
“Everything.”
