Chapter 2: I think I made a new friend?

Since it was already summer vacation and I had nothing better to do other than mopping around the house like a hanging onto thin thread zombie, I decided to take a walk around the neighbourhood. The night had already descended, a bit too early if I may add. It brought along few owl hooting sounds and faint windy noises, which seemed to be serene in nature.

Rae was already off to her grandmother's house for her vacation the same day she stood me up. She later called to inform me about their unannounced trip and I paid my goodbyes, knowing nothing else to do. That's my best friend for you.

I lace up my converses and yell out at Mum. I'm lucky if she answers. Apparently, I was.

"Stay within the sights, Alvie." she called back.

My mother was most probably engrossed into her favorite Television Channel called 'Weekly Enchantments'.
She would even mimick few lines as though she was auditioning for a role. Although, she would appear as though a girl stepped into her teenage years, my mother is absolutely my treasure.

As I walk around through the rough bushes and dark and narrow lane way, I keep darting my eyes everywhere, as if I was looking for something to appear out of the bushes and scream bloody murder.
I was being insecure, of course, but I can't help it. I trail along the lane way, watching my steps and looking out for creepy stalkers.

"You seem troubled, my dear." I shriek and jump away.

"Uh- no, I-uh was just passing by." I reply, my voice shaky. The old woman was nearly blindsided by the dark. It was...
