The man with the blue suit. (Shorts)

It was a normal day for him. People passing through these alleyways always in a rush, a kid wobbling through the street holding her mother's hands. Hoping to see her father in the office working as diligent as he can be..

Him? He's unemployed, ragged, tattered, devastated, and hopeless as he continues to loom over the people passing these alleyways one by one.

He wasn't always like this... No. Before he was happy. A happy grown man with the quo of a father with two kids. Until life hits the fan.. He remembers the scent of lavender that night he saw his wife with another man...

Sitting on the guy, wide black eyes, both staring at him. Then.. Darkness.

Shock filled his cranium, little did he know.. This was all planned by his wife. She never liked him, nor cared for him.. It was only for the money, she was twisted.. And that's it.

When he woke up, he was all alone. In the cold ground of his house.. Was the trail of his past, newly vanished.

Now he's here, on the alleyway, and would spend days doing everything he can to survive. Peek at the bins, hold his hands out in hopes for a few pents. It was the first time in his life he felt, alone and isolated from the world itself.

People would turn their heads away, before they could ever see him. Sometimes abused by a random person with a bottle in his hands, and worse.. Being robbed of the can of his only hope to eat a loaf of bread. Well, he said to himself.. This was his life now, it's easier to give up now can I? How can I have faith when there's no hope?

Lie down, his mind said, it's been a day..

"Just give up.."

Little by little he felt. He felt the whispers consuming his being as he did, lied down and relaxed.. Then the view of the ridge of the walkway met with him, all rugged and dirty.. One way to describe the problems his day had today. But there was something different..

On the side of the walkway was something, white.. Not white white, but fluffy white.. His immediate response was to widen his eyes. Then to stand, and walk up to it.

There sitting on the ridge was a cat, a fluffy white cat shaking from the winds. He picked it up, and brought it over the other side to his spot. And sure enough, it was starving.

No hesitation, his hand grabbed 2 half eaten loafs beside him, and watched as the feline ate, slowly... And later, all of it.

That was the last of it.. His reserve food for 2 days. Yet he wondered why he didn't felt bad about it in fact he was happy. He was happy for him, as he knew from the collar in his neck, he too was abandoned..

His name was 'Cloud', "What a nice name." He said to the cat, and slowly bought his head to sleep alongside the cat on his shoulder..

Then, another 3 days passed. Still nothing, the can was gone, nobody had the time to pity him, and Cloud would be gone in intervals of time but would be back by 5 pm... But this time, he was late.. Another 1 hour passed.. Cloud was still not there... Did he get killed by strangers? He began to question as his strength finally began to fade..

Had he eaten? Did he find someone else perhaps and adopted him? That was his thought for the moment, if that so.. He was happy.

He felt his cheeks curl into a smile, and a tear from his eyes to the ground.

"Inhale John.. Now, exhale.." His breath that stroked the night's air, leaving the streets to somewhere far from there..

The morning mist, the mellow melancholy sang by the tweets above the trees.. It was day, and below the buildings.. Was him, there.. Alone again..

It was another normal day for him, watching people passing this street. But this time, his eyes were closed.. His body was heavy, but.. There was a smile, and a cat slowly taking steps to the man..

There was a can full of tuna in his mouth.. Cloud was excited actually, his tail slipping side to side as his paws touched the man..

Yet he never responded, the only thing was.. A smile frozen in time.. Cloud was not alone too.. A man in a blue suit was following him for a couple of days now, and alas, led to John for the last time..

The man bent his knees, reached his hand out John, and slowly caressed his hair... He knew this man, his whole life.. Yet what can he do? Than to tell him..

"Am I too late? I'm sorry, thank you.."

Yet he never responded, but he could hear him otherwise...

It was his son.
