Does money brings dignity?

In an interview.

Interviewer . What is the intention for seeking a job, for making money or gaining dignity.
Candidate . For me it is dignity than earning money.
Interviewer . Dignity! Can you clarify?
Candidate. Money can be earned from many sources , but what we have done to earn money is important and that would be our dignity.
In our society a sad fact is that people's personality is measured by the bank balance without seeking how they made it.
