He smiled in a green sweater~
He wasn't meant for me but I never stopped hoping he might be. I baked him cookies every saturday, he knew it contained more than just milk and sugar. I watched him play ball with his mates, he knew why I only cheered for him. I stared at him the whole day, he knew why I couldn't blink my eyes close.

His eyes never met mine, he never agreed on movies with me, he never appreciated my gummy smiles, he didn't like my face in his games. Wishing his name everytime a full moon showed, I sometimes asked myself if he really knew but each time I couldn't help but believe he did.

I could have been anything anywhere anytime if it meant holding his hands and dreaming a future together with him but our stars never aligned. I could not reach him, he was too far and I never blamed my fate for drawing us apart because deep down, I always knew I wasn't enough for him.

He smiled in a green sweater. Cupping her face in his hands, he looked happy. My cookies, cheers, wishes, smiles, and love never made him happy but she did. I closed my eyes and turned my back towards their happiness. I dropped the choclate cookies on the ground and with it the words "I didn't see anyone above or beyond you. I love you."

It was hard to lose the favourite piece in me. I looked at the reflection on the glasses of the jewellery shop. It showed million pieces of a broken soul.

I always believed he knew and I guess he knew but he never really wanted to know🌼
