"Remember when I told you that I wanted to take you away from everything. Just me and you." Ziesha nodded. Yeah, that was yesterday-sometime after she'd just found out that her mother had an affair with his dad. There was still this huge unasked question regarding the affair but Ziesha didn't know how to say it. She'd rather wait for the perfect chance, she decided, or just wait for Mia before saying anything further.
"Alright so those men that attacked you," Caleb spoke softly, making sure that she was on track with him. "They weren't just some Zevon supporters Ziesha. They were trained professionals-pros hired to attack your sister and you...or at least that's what we know so far."
As shit scary as that sounded, Ziesha managed to put on a brave face. But either way, she was on safe ground. Her sister was not. "Caleb, Mia..." "I told you she's with Dino." "But in Durban, in our house that people entered and attacked us."
He ran a hand through his hair. "Ziesha, I need you to listen to me carefully, okay? Listen and then ask questions." Well that was demanding. "We only managed to get one of those men. The others escaped. Look, I don't know whether the guy was speaking the truth or not but if he is, then we have an idea of what's going on."
"Okay, what's going on?" She didn't like this, being told what to do and how to do it.
"Someone is threatening your father with yours and Meera's life to blackmail my dad."
What? "What?" she almost screamed, "How do you know that?" "I just do." "That's not good enough...how do I know you not making this up to save your own ass?" "You don't Zie. You just gotta trust me."
Her eyes widened in shock at his behavior. This was not how her Caleb would react. "Caleb!" she yelled, "Tell me what the hell is going on or I will walk out of that door and go home!" "And how do you plan on doing that because-"
"Oh my God Caleb! How do you know that someone is threatening my dad?"
"Because your father told me okay!" His tone matched hers, only much more louder. "Your father told me to take you away, some place safe." It was not for discussion, his expression made that clear. This still wasn't making any sense. "Then why is Mia still in Durban?"
"She's not-she's not at your house. We figured that a split would make it difficult for anyone trying to find you." Okay, good point but......
