The little pirate girl
Josephine was blind since her birth. All she ever saw was darkness and there was nothing to do to return her her sight. When Josephine was small her mother red her books about adventures, and about dragons and dwarfs. Josephine loved to hear the wonderful stories but most of she liked the stories about the sea. She never saw the sea of course but she imagined it to be the most beautiful thing in the world. She had heard so many stories about the millians of different plants that grow under the sea and the fish and the other sea animals. She had heard from her friends how they visited the sea every Holydays how the dived and saw thousends of fishes. Sadly her single mom never had the money to take her for a vacation to the sea. Josephine like every child loved stories about pirates and discoverers who spend weeks on the beautiful but dangerous sea, who fought agains storms and sharks and other pirates, who discovered new islands and new people. Jopsehine secretly dreamed of living on a a ship and go on big adventures and visit an island and maybe feed a monkey. She started visiting a school for blind. Learned how to read braille language, how to live independent and how to do everything a person need to do. From school she brought home books, about the ocean and the sea, about the underwater world, about pirates and about history. She read all books she could get and with every day she longed even more to live and adventurous and free life. She thought only the ocean would make her feel as free, as only a human can be. Saddly when Josephine was 9 she got cancer. She fought for a whole year, but she lost the battle. Before she died she said her mum that now she would go eyes and wings and she would fly away very far, to a secret island in the deep ocean, where she would care for monkeys, dive with the fishes and play with pirate children. She said that now her biggest dream would get true and asked her mother not to cry anymore for her. She promised to wait for her mother there on the secret island and send her regularly letters in bottles.
