We Loved Once. Prologue
There is something eerie yet sweet to be said about the sacredity of unrequited love. Perhaps it is the enigma of words uncertain or the lure of potential feelings to be had. Whatever it is, it is undisputed that unrequited love is a love we have all had.
Rain and Harriet, though she preferred to be called Harry, had known each other since the day they were born. Their parents met in college and grew to be the best of friends so naturally they'd raise their famalies together. Harry came out as gay first. One night, when she was seven years old she cut her hair and came downstairs in her father's clothes. It was Valentine's day and her parents were about to leave on a date "I'm not bound by society with whom I love" she said. A statement this precocious was just the kind of thing Harry's parents were grooming her for. She was a prodigy after all. Her parents were taken aback at first but they quickly grew to support her. Her dad took her to the barber to get her hair cut and she began navigating the world of her newfound sexuality. She chose to remaim female as she didn't feel out of place in her feminine body, it was more like she just didn't feel confined by love. Harry was smart beyond her years, boyish but neat and well put together and excelled at everything she did, which included tennis. Rain was the opposite of her best friend not just in personality but in appearance as well. Rain was outspoken, she wore her heart on her sleeve and was one of the kindest people you'd ever meet, unlike her practical best friend. When she was seven she decided that she wanted to be a vocalist and she trained and trained day in day out until Rain Summercast became a household name. The two friends grew up together and as years grew older their friendship glowed. The power of love transcends all walls. Their tale is a delicate, precious expose on the intricacy of feelings and emotions.
