The Mystery Remains Unsolved
#WritcoStoryChallenge
The footsteps following me sounded closer. I ran through the empty corridors of the hospital, my heart pounding with terror.
I turned a corner and stopped short. I had reached a dead end. I closed my eyes out of fear. I was praying for some magic to happen and save me from the approaching danger . Not hearing the sounds, I opened my eyes slowly and observed the surroundings. Upon not finding anyone, I took a sigh of relief. I started walking baby steps in search of a safe place. I went forward, opened a glass door, turned left and screamed. The person chasing me was now a step away from me. O good Lord, what should I do now? How should I save myself from this inhuman personality. As soon as he took a step forward, I took a step back. My hands on the wall behind, walking backwards, I waa in search of some aid or a way to escape. And lucky I was, I touched a door knob. I tried to open it before he could reach me, and thank God, I was successful in doing so. I opened the door with a thud and went behind it as fast as I could. I closed the door and locked it down. While having a glance at the setting, I came to know that I was finally out of the hospital. But, something was strange. Their was not a single entity on the road at the rush hour. Again, it was not the time to think. I just started running in a direction, right side from the hospital. After a long run I got tired and thirsty out of fear. Boosting up my self I was just going to run again when I heard the sound of engine. I looked behind and it was a car coming towards the same direction I was running to. I gestured to be given lift and the car stopped. As soon as the mirror got down, a loud scream escaped from my mouth. The same person in the hospital was on the driving seat, giving an evil smile. This time, I gathered all the courage and decided to ask him, who he was? And what he wanted? But he did not reply. I raised my voice, and repeated the question. To my disappointment, there was no reply this time as well. Not loosing the valor, I restated my question. But, as soon as I could understand the happenings, the person was standing besides me in no time but blink of an eye. A shiver ran through my body, but I didn't express my fear. Not giving me the time to utter even a single word, he grabbed my neck and started pressing it so hard as he wanted to kill me in a single breath. Because of his covered face I could not find out, who exactly he was? And what was satisfactory for him to kill me. I did not remember any fight or grudge between me and anybody else. I was not able to shout because of the strong hold. All I could do was moving my hands and feet. I tried to push him, hit him, but all in vain. So, I decided to unveil his face, to know the identity behind. A shock was waiting for me upon umcovering the face. I could not see his face. Striking it was. Why was I not able to see his face? It was all dark as an oval would be. Then, I grabbed his hands and tried to pull them. No fear, no danger I knew that time. All I knew was freeing myself to breathe. My mind was gradually stopping working. I was about to get faint when I heard some voices calling my name. I opened my eyes with a swift and found some people standing around me. I was not able to recognize the place and the people around. Everything was blur. I could not hear the sounds properly. I was sweating badly. I had and abrupt breathing and a rapid heartbeat. It took good five to ten minutes for me to understand what was going around. The faces were becoming visible and the sounds clear, slowly. The place I recognized as my room and the people around, my family. Decoding their words, I got to know that I was shouting loud for help and crying endlessly, and that my situation turned awful when my face got blue and my breathing almost stopped. I might was dreaming. But the effects when the person was pressing my neck in that fearful dream, turned my face blue in reality. I was about to die in reality. I could not understand the difference between the dream and reality. It was more like some wandering soul trying to murder me or a bad dream with such intense outcome. The mistery remains unsolved.
