Movie Night: Chapter 1
#WritcoPoemChallenge
Into the flames rising out of a setting sun,
I draw in a deep breath before I run... sweat dripped off my forehead as I ran to my friend's house. My legs were singeing, my heart was thumping fast it felt like I couldn't breathe. I ran 30 blocks already feeling wearied, when I got there I saw that the lights were on.
I went up to the porch stairs and knocked on the door, I heard noises and movement. Suddenly, the front door opened and saw my friend grinning at me.
"Daisy, you're late. But, don't worry the movie hasn't started yet. We just made Hot Cheetos and cheese."
I rose my eyebrow. "Uhh okay." I went inside as I heard my friend close the door. We both went up the stairs, down the hall, and went into her room.
Sitting on the floor was two girls and one boy who was covered in a blanket and one boy on the bed.
"Hey, babe." the boy on the bed said.
"Beth, I thought you said no boy," I whispered.
"What are you talking about?"
I crossed my arms. "Well, first, your boyfriend is here."
"Well, you should be happy. You know Sean is friends with Michael and I know how you like him." I sighed and saw Michael on the floor talking to my friends Liesa and Gloria.
"Okay, fine." I open my backpack and took out my blanket and set it down on the floor and then grabbed another blanket sat down and put it over myself. I looked around and saw Beth wasn't in the room anymore. "Where'd Beth go?" I asked.
"She's waiting for the other guest," Gloria said.
"Oh." I looked inside my backpack and realized I didn't bring my pillow.
"I see you forgot your pillow." A feminine voice said. I turn around and saw Michael looking at me. "Do you wanna use mine?"
My cheeks turn red. "No, I'm fine."
"Are you sure? My pillow is very long so that two people can lay down." Michael said.
"Yeah, I'm sure. I can just use my backpack." Michael smiled which made me melt. How is he so beautiful?
I laid down feeling uncomfortable with using a backpack as a pillow. "Are you not gonna eat?" Liesa asked.
"Nah, I'm not into hot stuff. But, I am into other hot things." I said while looking at Michael who flushed dark red.
I heard noises by the door and looked up and found Beth and Madison walking into the room.
"Beth, what is Madison doing here?!" I snarled.
"I invited her," Beth said. Madison sat down right behind me.
"But, she bullied us."
"And I forgave her. She told me why she bullied us -"
"And what? I'm supposed to forgive?" I barked.
"Yes!"
"And why should I," I said.
"Okay, I'll tell you. It's because I had a crush on Madison, but I didn't wanna tell my friend because they might bully me, and I didn't know how to express my feeling cause I was scared of being rejected." Madison confessed all in one breath.
"So, why'd you bully me?" I asked.
"I got jealous of how you two were being so close."
"Oh, okay I see your point. But, it takes time to forgive someone - Mainly a bully."
"No, it's okay." Madison pulled out a blanket and pillow and covered herself and laid down.
Beth turned off the lights and went over to her bed and picked a movie. "So, what are we gonna watch?"
"Well, I don't know, but I heard Leave No Trace is pretty good," Beth said.
"I don't know I had enough drama after watching Pretty Little Liars," Gloria said.
"Well, too late. I already pressed it." The movie started as I tried to get comfortable, but I couldn't only because Michael was right beside me.
Halfway through the movie, my eyes were locked on the screen soaking in what was happening. It was so interesting, but also kinda sad that the father and daughter are homeless. Or is it the father? I looked over at Madison and saw tears running down her face.
"Is this your first time watching Leave No Trace?"
Madison shook her head. "Yes, this is my first time watching the movie, but not the book." she wiped her tears.
"There's a book?" I asked.
"Yeah, but it's called My Abandonment. And it's so good, everything in that book was beautiful." Madison said.
"Oh. Okay, then." I looked back at the movie again and realized that it was almost over.
I started crying for some reason. "But, Will. Poor him. I feel bad."
"I know. But, I also feel bad for Tom though. To be honest, I feel like she wants to help Will because he was injured, but thank god Dale asked one of the people who lived in the trailer to bandage him up." Sean said.
"See, this is why I want to be a military medic so I can help those poor soldiers," Gloria said.
"Or flirt with them," Lisa said.
"Guys, the movie is over," Beth said.
"But, wait what happened to the ranger?" Liesa asked.
"What ranger?" I asked.
"You know when Tom was hiding from the ranger and didn't tell her dad, but he was arrested, and later after that they fleed."
"They didn't flee they just pack their bags and went to the bus," Michael said.
"That's called fleeing," I said.
"No, it's not. It's the opposite of that." Michael said.
"Well, I feel bad for Will. Can you imagine trying to hitchhike while telling them that you don't abuse your child?" Gloria said.
"Well, the ranger's not important. Anyway, good movie. Very nice." Sean said.
"Yep, okay good night." Beth rolled over and went to sleep.
"Ok. Good night." Michael said.
We all went to sleep and everything was quiet. I gotta say this was the best movie night ever.
