A soldier with Dreadful Emotions
#WritcoStoryPrompt31
The loud blast startled us all. On its heels the plane nose-dived. "Jump out now!"
The squadron leader opened the hatch. It looked like a gaping gateway to hell. One by one the soldiers jumped into the dark abyss. I was the last to go...
Uneasiness settle in the pit of my chest
Before we hit the ground a heavy wind carry us south, closer to the war zone.
Soldier get yourself together and move... The leader shouted.
The sight in front of me is one of terrior and fear, fear that many of us may not reach back home to our love ones, fear of losing the war.

GET DOWN! Every one lay low to the ground.
Screams could be heard from a distance, plead for mercy.
The wind carry the sound of soldier falling on the battlefield in pain.
Gunshots from all angle, many soldiers from the enemy side bleed out on the battlefield, it's more of a blood field.
Body parts can be seen in every direction.

Samuel Samuel Samuel SAMUEL! Snapping me out of my state of the battlefield, looking to my lift side , I realize that my commander has been calling me.

YES SIR... Samuel get your head straight, we are at war... He yelled... Sir yes sir, we shouted over the booming noise.
Soldiers move out. We all run to the battlefield, our hearts in our mouth, I do not know if I will live, but I will fight for the greater best.

Running fast as I can, trying not to get hit, my weapon in my right hand, looking to my left one of my brother's have fallen dead. Shooting as many as I can, one by one I watch the enemies slowly being defeated.

I know we are trying to bring peace to the world. Being a soldier is never easy. We were trained to kill. The first kill is traumatizing. Has we continue to kill , we are not the person we once were before we put on these green suits, with a weapon in our hand.
Once we have taken a life, and then more, we become a machine the nation uses to protect and serve.

The war is over, an even though many of my brother's had fallen, they had died protecting the world. I have live to see another day, for that I am thankful.
Bringing back home the bodies of our fallen men are hard, but the hardest is returning their body to their families.
Watching their tears hit the floor, kids screaming for their father's to wake up, it is a horrible sight.

Until my next fight, I will enjoy every moment with my family
