“It feels so tumultuous you know...” It was still early evening and the vespertine air was full of the sweet fragrance of flowers as a wedding went on near, at full swing. The other-times perfect stillness of the night was punctured by the sound of the clarinet playing over the cheerful speakers blaring out random filmy songs.

“I know right. Everyone’s getting married this year,” Mona heard Tanun say enthusiastically over the conference call.

“I heard there are over a billion marriages this year. Worldwide... Maybe more, but not less. I thought we were concerned about the population density?” Jagadeep joked from the other end.

“Who’s getting married on your side, Mona?” Bhuvan’s voice interrupted Mona’s flow of thoughts. “Guess we four can hear the sounds of the wedding louder than your own voice!”

 Mona took a deep pause and began. “My childhood friend.” “Yes-” she added, as she heard a collective gasp followed by a snigger from the other end. “We were so close and she was in fact, the first ever, EVER girl I had ever truly bonded with in life. Life, or whatever I thought life was. She.. she’s influenced everything I’ve been as a person over the years. The things I loved, the things I believed in, within her, was my heart and my home. She made a home in her heart and let others stay there. She was… angelic of sorts. We literally grew up together. I don’t know how to express it, its all too much. Too many feelings. And now.. she’s getting married...”

“Didn’t she invite you to the marriage?” Bhuvan interrupted.

“Heck, I wish I was. Would have definitely gone for dinner haha,” Tanun tried to joke again.

“She did invite me. And I mean, I’m gonna go some time in the evening... The only thing is... she… doesn’t remember me that well? You get what I’m saying? We grew apart. She moved on. I moved on. The love between us didn’t. You might say-” Mona raised her voice a few decibels as she faintly heard Anisri’s voice from the other end, trying to interrupt her flow. “You might say oh Mona, why did you stop looking out for her.
