A DAY TO REMEMBER
Two years ago yet a moment in our heart
A day before the ugly incidence at my alma Mata, we met after the morning assembly.
A week of strange events, that morning, there was a misunderstanding, a father has caused commotion, amidst the unrest I set to control the students.
I found myself in his class: Gabriel an intelligent student, a rare one I admired.
He was the first child of a single mother who worked after school to support his mother and siblings.
I was so inspired when I saw the house he has helped his mom built...
That morning, he was full of strength, I could see the joy overflowing in him.
Lately a day later, at roughly mid-day, I woke up to an unrest, gunshots at atleast 500m away from me, I could see smoke gazing at the scene. Rushing out to the road to ask what happened? It has happened again, they said " They have come again, they have come to cause another trouble ".
It was another politician I learnt
I couldn't find out what lead to the shooting...
Then came people from my street, they shot him, they said with tears flowing in their voice
Who? I asked, as crowd gathered to find out...
Few minutes later, shouts as though one was skinned alive.
I heard his mother cry, "they've taken him away",
It was a head shot. "an unarmed child of 16-17 years shot on the head?" I asked myself as tears flows.
Another Enemy we pay to protect us, this wasn't the first life they have claimed, I cried as I couldn't hold myself.
More heartening, there was no hospital that could handle that level of injury nor an emergency team that could stabilize him...
We lost a legend that day, a future as bright as the hot sun.
What did we get... A burial and that's all
A single mother lost her son, her husband, her father and her friend...
Justice was never served, even a sibling couldn't be sponsored.

Gabriel we love you but God loves you most.
You will forever be remembered and no matter how long Justice will be served...
