Love Thorns
Love is not beautiful only the feel of love is beautiful.
It starts beautifully enough, that first moment your eyes meet. It feels as if everything around you stops, fades into the background as you continue to gaze without blinking at all. That's how spellbound you are, or were, whichever you choose. You think of finding out who that person is, how to speak to them...you start craving connection and the thought of not knowing them, of never seeing them again almost pains you.
Luckily you don't have to wait long, because they're already coming your way. Naturally, you feel a bit nervous, "oh, what do I do, what if they don't like me, what if I say something stupid, what if they're way too weird for my taste...", the thoughts circulating around in your mind as you prepare for the introduction. After a few minutes of speaking to each other, you realise it's not so bad. Your interest is peaked and it goes both ways.
Later on, you exchange numbers, with promises of texting, "I'd like to get to know you better" is what seales the deal.
As times passes, as you get to know them better, your feelings grow. Both of you seem ready for something more so you finally start dating. It's going great. You're on cloud nine. You're smiling and laughing more than you used to. Your family and friends notice the change. The feeling of love slowly starts to bloom in your heart. Like a beautiful red rose. We all know how beautiful roses are. But we often forget about those little thorns that prickle us if we try to touch them. Just as there is no rose without its thorns, there is no love without pain.
You thought it'll last. It sure seemed that way. You saw yourself spending the rest of your life with them. You thought your love was strong enough to overcome every obstacle life throws your way. That if you're together, you can do everything. Sadly, things don't always turn out the way you want them to.
"I don't think it's working out anymore. It was great, but I just don't feel the same. I hope we can stay friends." You never saw that coming, did you? Guess that happily ever after will have to wait. All you're left with is a broken heart and bittersweet memories.
Love might be beautiful, like a rose, but it can also prickle you, like a thorn. So be more careful with your heart.
