Awareness
Without awareness we are not capable of taking responsibility for our behaviour and actions. If there's an issue in your life, the problem won’t disappear unless you are shining light on it. And it isn't easy to become aware. Have you ever considered that you're quite oblivious to how much awareness you lack? An example may be that when we are doing some sort of unhealthy activity, we tend to distract ourselves by avoiding being fully conscious in whatever it is we are doing. We deflect our awareness with unconscious thoughts and activities therefore losing ourselves in bad habits and behaviours. You can imagine that in doing so we cause so much damage to ourselves and never face or overcome the issue at hand.

We all like to think we are already pretty conscious but it really is something we tend to lack. Awareness really is a skill and it takes practice and open mindedness to be able to look within. To question yourself "are you aware of what you’re doing?". Breaking bad habits isn't easy too but awareness is the biggest and most important step to making change happen.
