The Room Of Shadows
#WritcoStoryPrompt11
The village well as eerie even by the day. Stories of horror revolved around it. But nothing deterred me and my friends to explore it on that moonless, winter night…

I was always the lone wolf, so the second I got to go somewhere on my own, I didn't think to waste that second.

Everyone looked my way and I knew that we didn't have enough prople to go three in each group, so someone would go alone. And I wanted it to be me.

"Scar, you're on your own," Nona said. I nodded firmly and went my way... towards the castle.

I walked into the building and grabbed an unused torch, putting my hand near it so it would heat up and light.

When the fire illuminated the room, I continued my journey through the castle. I went up the stairs and stopped at the execution room. It was small so the torch lit it up easily as skeletons were visible.

I left the room, going to the door with carvings in it. I pushed open the doors, gasping when many shadows danced around the room happily. Men held onto women as they moved around the floor, twirling and spinning.

Suddenly, I felt movement pass through me as dark, dark shadows entered the room, killing the joyful people.

The adults of my village told stories about the shadow demons... but we always thought it was so we wouldn't go to this village.

To this castle.

To the Room Of Shadows.
