We have known about the famous story of Romeo and Juliet. But will I know almost a same story happened in Purulia of present West Bengal of India? Bhadravati was the only daughter of the king of Panchakot. She loved a man. But he belonged to a poor family. So Bhadravati's father did not allow this relation. He arranged marriage for his daughter to another person. This person was wealthy. But Bhadravati did not agree with her father and she arranged to flee from her palace from his parents. It is supposed that the lover whom Bhadravati loved made suicide to get the news of Bhadravati's marriage or men of the king murdered him. Bhadravati heard that whom she loved had passed away. She decided to suicide and she also passed away. Bhadravati was very kind to subjects of Panchakot. They loved her and to remember her a folk festival has been originated named the Bhadu festival.
