Pirates Lost Horde: Chapter One
The Tavern and The Library
"Slug" Jenkins and his assortment of associates sat at a battered table in the darkest depths of the already dark and smoke ridden den known as the "Hook and Patch".
Rumor was rife in this notorious port town.Particularly in this tavern,it was said that information on anything,or anyone could be garnered here, and "Slug" Jenkins and his band of misfits wanted both.
At precisely that moment in a different time and place a 12yr old boy by the name of Roger Jolly was sifting through books at his local library.
Roger was a short tough ,streetwise kid and loved tales of adventure and daring. He watched films like "Treasure Island","Pirates of the Caribbean" and was intrigued by the Greek Hero "Jason" and the Arabian tales of "Sinbad".
Roger would constantly read historical books on pirates,his alert imagination quickly absorbing the daring acts of bravery , courage and apparent unlawfulness perpetrated by colourful.bizarre characters of a bygone age.
"Slug" Jenkins stroked his goatee beard and whispered to his comrades"so me mateys ,what do you know?" Spotty Simpson scratched his tuff of hair before replying "Well Knack Arse Nick, told me it is definitely true,and Bonehead Malone swears it is".
Buzzer Dan looked up and added "and what's more half the bleedin pirating community are after the same thing.This damn business is going to tear the clans apart,several of the bigger clans have set off already,do it's not looking good for us right now"
"Slug" scowled at that last remark by Buzzer and asked "Ernie what do you know?"The lithe man sitting to his left ,blew his nose loudly and in a reedy voice told his comrades "it is true that both the "Motley Scars" and the "Cutthroat Crows" have took sail, and the "Black-eyed Scavenger's"are leaving tomorrow,where to at present, nobody seems to know"
Exasperated by what he had just heard "Slug" growled "dose nobody in this bloody gathering have any good news?"There was a moment's.silence before the fifth member of this assembled mob beckoned to the others.They crowded around in anticipation.A deliberate extended pause kept the tension high before a female voice said "Roger Jolly".
