#WritcoStoryPrompt38
The two girls jumped over the hopscotch they had drawn on the curb with white chalk. It was their favourite game and they would be at it for hours. Emilia and Julia were friends since they were three. Now when they were eight, they still were best friends. Emilia wiped her sweat with the edge of her beautiful peach dress that uncle Sam bought for her who returned from Istanbul in the morning. Uncle was sitting under a tree with the coffee served to him by Emilia's mother. Girls could smell the coffee in the air with the warmth of freshly baked ginger cookies. Julia looked at Emilia's dress that she really liked. She thought how lucky Emilia is to have such loving and caring uncle who bought expensive gifts too. Sam uncle was Emilia's father's younger brother. Since her father's death in a war, he had been really helpful. She saw uncle Sam smiling at them while sipping his coffee. Emilia's mother was happy today that now Emilia will be able to go to school as uncle Sam came to take her. He had promised to put her in a good school in Istanbul. She dreamt of her daughter growing to become a self dependent woman that she herself could never become. She packed lunch for both of them and came to inform Emilia that she was going with her uncle.Emilia was happy that she was going to school now but at the same time was very sad to leave her best friend Julia back here. With teardrops falling from her eyes she asked her mother "Is school so important, mother?" Her mother with a lump in her throat could not speak. She hugged Emilia assuring her that everything will be alright. With many dreams in her eyes she bid farewell to both and kept on standing at the door till they disappeared. She sent a piece of her heart with uncle Sam today. Uncle Sam and little Emilia reached his apartment in Istanbul in the evening. Emilia was tired. Rubbing her eyes she saw the small house that belonged to uncle Sam. Aunt Julie and their son Jock were waiting for them. Emilia greeted them with warm heart and Aunt Julie replied with equally warm expressions. Emilia was a little apprehensive but she had butterflies in her stomach thinking about the school. She missed mother and Julia badly. Uncle Sam told Emilia to take rest after dinner as they had to go to school early in the morning. She could not sleep properly in the new place but she tried to keep her eyes closed as she was tired of the long journey. As she was thinking about the school, she heard the creaking sound of the door and through the corner of her eye she saw Jock entering the room. Jock was looking at her. Emilia held her breath. It was not a good feeling to see someone staring at her while she was sleeping. Jock came near her bed and sat on the edge of the bed. He then slowly lifted Emilia's sheet and caressed her smooth white thigh. Emilia felt a shiver going down through her spine. She froze. She tried to shout but nothing came out of her throat. Jock pushed her dress. Suddenly a loud sharp cry came from her . Jock tried to press her mouth with his hand but she slipped away and shouted again. Uncle Sam came running. Jock on seeing his father told him that he heard Emilia's noises so came to check on her. Uncle Sam became quiet. Without uttering a word he went to his room and told Jock to go to his room. Emilia was crying. It was difficult for her to adjust to the situation now. She missed her mother so much. Aunt Julie hugged her and quietly went to her room. Emilia cried for the whole night sitting in the corner of the room. She did not want to stay here now. Next morning, Uncle Sam told her to get ready and they took a cab. After some time Emilia could see they were going out of Istanbul. She was confused as she knew they were not going to school. She asked uncle Sam but he did not break his silence. She slept as she could not sleep for the whole night. She woke up hearing her mother and Julia calling her name again and again. They both were shocked and happy to see her. Mother and Uncle Sam both had strange expressions on their faces. Uncle Sam told Emilia to go to her room and play with Julia. Emilia could not resist herself from hearing the conversation of her mom and her uncle. Uncle was telling her mother that he is really apologetic for Jock's behaviour and he does not want Emilia to stay there. He always wanted that Emilia should study but now its difficult for him to trust his own son. Emilia at the back of the door, was trying to understand this strange creature "man." She was not sure if she could trust any of them again.
