A Good Stranger
𝐖hen I was young, maybe 7? my parents told me not to talk to people I didn't know. Especially if someone I'm not familiar with or know suddenly starts talking to me.

I ran away from our house because I was being scolded.

I was scolded because of my low score on our English test. You know that parents in Asia are strict, especially when it comes to their children's education. I got a score of 10/30. My mom said...

"Is this the only score you got!?" she angrily shouted at me. Meanwhile, I couldn't do anything but stay silent and try not to listen to what my angry mother was saying.

"Answer me! Why is your score low? I've educated you well!" she yelled at me. I couldn't count how many hours she had been talking. You know, when my mom gets angry, she won't stop saying whatever comes out of her mouth. And of course, I didn't want to answer my mom. Because if you answer your parents, especially when they scold their child, if you answer, you're a rude child and you have no respect for them.

So what I did... I ran away. I ran away from home. I ran fast, even though I could still hear my mother's shouts.

"Where are you going!? Come back here!" I didn't look back and told myself that I wouldn't go back.

I didn't realize that our house was far away. I was panting heavily from running so fast to get to a distant place. I escaped from home and my mother. I noticed a local bookstore nearby...
