The one with the book smarts didn't have to study hard to pass tests They both will go to college One on a basketball scholarship in the other on academic scholarship. They both had promised to look out for each other while they was in college. After one year of college the one with the basketball scholarship would GoPro and the other one was struggling to finish college because of the cost. After going pro and finding out his friend was struggling with her college expenses he decide to help her out. Keeping it on the down low and pay for her remaining college cost. he knew she wasn't going to take no help from him cuz she was too proud to ask and she was kind of jealous he made it pro. but she forgot about the promise And she didn't ask, but what she didn't know was, that he was the one that wanted to finish college for a education. And he was the one that didn't wanted to go pro with basketball. He would use her parents to pay out the money for her to stay in college. He had told her parents about the promise they made He ask her parents to promise not to tell her where the money come from. and they agreed not to tell her. She never did come to none of his games, but he was there when she graduated, he kept a low profile and stayed in the background and did not go up front to shake her hand when she graduated. He did not want to upstage her, that was her day. As the years went by her parents kept the secret that the money came from her friend She thought they had took out a loan on the house for her to finish and graduated college. She was always talk bad about him and how he was just a lucky enough of a person to make it, even though he was a bench player he never made it to be a starter. And she was still jealous and mad of the fact that he went pro and he didn't tell her why. What she didn't know was that he went pro because of family hardship not that he wanted to. Because he had to take care of his family first before himself. If it was up to him he would have finished school first and went pro second. He had all the Fame and Fortune ,but he did have the education he wanted Playing basketball took up all his time it was a mandate that came with that lifestyle of being a professional basketball player.
At one of the families gatherings het family kept hearing her talk about how bad of a person he was, he did make it go farther than a bench player. That when they foundly decide to tell her what he did for her to finish college. And why they kept it on the down low and didn't tell her to now. They knew that she was too proud to take the money , but what she didn't know that he was her biggest fan. He had the Fame and fortune but he didn't have it the way he wanted. By putting his family first, he in return lost their friendship. She decided to go to one of his games to thank him for what he had did for her. After all these years. Her parents had his personal number, over the years he would call her parents and check on her to see how she was doing keeping it on a down low. Her parents had call ahead to let him know she was coming to the game. He look for her to be sitting up front , but she was sitting in back and had not migrated to the front yet to look for him. When the team came out at halftime for warm ups he had the PA announcer call her name to come up front. She was surprised that he knew that she was there, she came up front to greet him. He said very few words, he only said I'm glad you here and I'm glad to see you. He had a basketball in his hand and he autographed it for her. on the ball he wrote ,when I finish playing basketball I still want to finish college will you help me with that. She said , yes it would be my pleasure, remember promise made promise to be kept.
